Idaho?

So has anyone ever heard of a Red Sexlink laying white eggs??? Mine has just started laying and her eggs have been white for quite a while now and at first I thought they might darken after a while but know I'm starting to think they're going to stay white haha

Birdguy, hope the little roo made it home ok! Forgot to tell you he and his girlfriend were named Gloria and Meathead, (from "All in the Family") haha

Yes he got home safely and is now future king of the roost over all my ameracauna and leghorn girls... He has been christened Biscuit by the kids for some reason...

I have 11 SBEL eggs in an incubator on my desk at work due to hatch on Thursday... and I won't be here all day!!!! LOL... At least the rest of the office should have a good day... :)

Icyoldhen, the quail I got from your eggs? Wow. One hen lays the hugest double yolker every day. They all lay every day pretty much...another lays a big single, the other two lay normal size. Very awesome little layers! I have had so many people want chicks from them. Just wanted to let you know about the big eggs, they are great!

Hi Lisa, glad your quail are laying well for you! I typically end up with at least one young hen that lays huge double yolk eggs daily from each hatch. From my most recent hatch I have a hen that is going way above & beyond! Apparently the typical coturnix egg weighs 9 - 10 grams. My coturnix eggs are averaging about 12 grams. I have one hen laying 20+ gram eggs! Here is a photo of one that weighed 23 grams next to one weighing 13 grams which is already a good size quail egg. This hen is laying HUGE eggs! I tried to candle it to see if it was a triple yolker or something but my batteries weren't good enough so the beam was too dim to see anything. I have several huge quail eggs in the bator along with a bunch more (150 coturnix eggs set to hatch later this month!). I'm hoping the huge eggs hatch!

PS I think my frizzle is turning into a roo.

IcyOldhen--Not good about the Roo :( Still on the fence with mine. hoping!

The biggest egg I got was 26 g, the other big ones are around 17-19. Crazy. I thought about trying to hatch them but they have mostly had double yolks so i hate to waste them, they have been going in my omelettes. :D That big giant one was like a banty chicken egg! I am trying to hatch some more for a few people down here--I need one to two more hens for each boy that I have, and hate to use the offspring to put back with the daddy's as I did not keep track of which eggs came from which boy... if you end up with extra females that can be sexed let me know, I would love to buy some from you! I am going to try to keep track this next time of the eggs, and see if I can try to do it, but it would be lots easier to get some from you :)

You were liking the showgirls....I have been hatching some eggs from my Paint SG rooster, and a NN mother.....the babies are turning out 2 things--some black SG Babies, (but some have single combs). If you are interested let me know, I have more hatching next week. The other thing hatching are paint NN---white babies, pink skin, look like turkens but have black polka dots. Pretty cute! If you are interested in either holler. They would not be SQ for breeding but some pretty cute pets!

THE other interesting thing is I am hatching eggs from this same dad and a Marans Cross mom---a black hen that came from a cuckoo mom and FBCM dad---they are identical to the paint NN above. Exactly...but I am wondering if there is any way they would lay a darker brown egg like the marans Mom....Hmmmm!

Babies from both pairings are available, if anyone is interested, I will make a trip to Idaho at some point soon. Some of the NN babies have 5 toes. Cute little muttsies :) You don't see paint colored NN though, so a fun unique thing for sure.

On the frizzle---if mine is a girl I want to put her with that paint SG roo above--some people on the SG thread said I might get paint frizzles! If i do I will let you know :) There were all kinds of things they said could hatch, so will see :) Hope like crazy it is a girl. It looks to have the three rows on the peacomb, but not red at all, and still small. So hoping!

I love the name Biscuit, how cute! He better be a good king! I would love to buy some SBEL eggs or chicks from him in the Spring!

Ok I lost yet another hen. That makes 3, one to illness, one to heat and the latest one to stupidity on the pullets part. Somehow one of my orps I bought at Chickenstock got herself wedged under the coop and broke her fool neck. Does anyone have any 2 to 5 month old orpington pullets they want to rehome?
