Ok so I have a question what would likely be the predator? found 2 of my hens killed the other day both in the same day and right next to each other. what ever killed them only ate some of the insides none of the meat and both hens had a egg near them, one the egg was intact and the shell was soft the other the yoke was intact but no shell it looked like what ever it was passed on the eggs and just went for the innards. Also I think what ever it was got into the hen house cause it looked like something had disturbed them and knocked over the one roost I had in there for them. They are being locked up now so no one will get hurt during the night any more. I first thought it was a raccoon but wouldn't they eat the eggs? my boss said it was probably and owl but would they go inside the hen house to get them? wouldn't think it was a kitty cat cause wouldn't they eat the meat and don't they mostly kill for fun.
By the way it just happens that one of the hens killed was the one that pecked me all the time the other one was one that would take on my dogs so what ever took them had to be pretty stoutly I would think. Well kind of a long question huh? sorry
