Idaho?

I have a 7-8 week old rooster... Free to good home... Pet quality only - He's a d'Uccle mix.... Very cute! Must find a home for him soon... If you are interested or know anyone who is... let me know... Thanks!

Anyone know any places that butcher chickens in the Nampa area? I have two Ameraucanas that need doing, but I'm not up to the task yet. Especially since hubby is leaving tomorrow to go hunting and my girls are egg eaters and trying to teach the others to do the same thing! I know there's a place in New Plymouth, but it's almost an hour away.

Thanks!

Edited to add that I would also be interested in getting together with someone who is butchering their own chickens in the next few days in the Nampa area. I could help and bring my two to do at the same time. I really need the experience and would like to work with someone knowledgeable the first time out. :) These processing plants are pretty busy this time of year.

Mamahumecky--So sorry for the tragedy & for your little boy's sadness! I wonder if your neighbors would tell you if that happened if you asked them & let them know you didn't consider the dog at fault if the chick was in their yard. Maybe not if they didn't communicate in the first place. Sad.

Mo5C--I'm very sorry you can't keep your chickens. That's hard! Best wishes in finding the pullets good homes.

Hey everyone, i just wanted t see if any one was intewrested in a Bantam RIR Roo and Pullet. They are still really young. They do have a 25 watt light at night but not during the day. they live outside They are really cute and and could easily be hand trained. They are about 2 months old but still look like chicks just fully feathered. They are free to any of my friends on BYC and i can deliver if it not to far. I will post some pictures tomorrow. These are really small birds when fully grown. They was raised be a LF (one of the top of the pecking order) hen so they are not little weak things. They know how to dig for food, forage and will eat any veggies you give them. They are not afraid of my cats and will stand their ground when confronted. You could easily add these two little ones to your flock and not worry.

The bulb on my brooder went out last night. I went down to check on my quail chicks this morning before work and found all four of them belly up. I noticed that they were still breathing, but barely alive. I tossed them in the incubator hoping that will warm them back up. Here's crossing my fingers

CM--My DH brought button quail home form Salt Lake to Logan, in February, teeny chicks, and put them in the trunk. Duh! Anyway, when he got home and took them out they were legs up, and appeared to be dead. I help one under the warm light over my stove, just to see, because I could swear I saw it breathing. Slowly, it moved around more and more, and then was running around the brooder after an hour or so. Sooo, I am sending hope your way, because I could not believe it when it happened to me, they really were just fine! Crossing fingers for you. I sure hope they make it! :fl
