Just got here - Hi Everyone!
I'm from the borderland of ID & WA here in the panhandle. Been scratching around in this neck of the woods forever but only recently discovered BYChickens forums!
Steve
Hello from Athol, Idaho!
No laughing, that really is the name of the town.
Hey! We're practically neighbors! I live just south of you!Rathdrum Idaho here!
Hi Kelsey, the northern part of Idaho - Spokane Washington to Coeur d'alene Idaho is a beautiful area - Priest Lake is stunning - close enough to Spokane - Lewiston is a hot &(I think) ugly town - but East of there is the Clearwater River - world class fishing and as you go towards Montana it gets more and more beautiful, but the towns get tiny. Orofino, Kamiah are 3000 people or smaller - within 60 minutes of Lewiston (pop 35000). Not a large population area, but that's what you get as you move up in the mountains. Going south toward Boise you have McCall - beautiful wooded area - lots of richer folk moving into that area because of the beauty. Then as you continue south it gets drier and drier.
SecondedI live in Post Falls, ID which is sandwiched between Coeur d'Alene and Spokane, WA. It's absolutely breathtaking here
It is getting pricey though (most homes are about 250k, and acreage is really spendy unless you head up north a bit toward Spirit Lake and Priest Lake, then they get better). Sandpoint, ID is an awesome town and if my husband didn't work in Spokane we would happily live up there.
But pretty much anything from Kootenai, Bonner and Boundary county is good as far as beauty is concerned. Acreage gets cheaper if you're willing to drive for a bit, but it's only 2 hours to the Canadian border and Sandpoint is a decent town. Not too tiny, but not huge either (and it has a hospital too and satellite campuses for the local community college).
