Idaho?

Hey Pawtraitart, My Blue Orpingtons are so darn beautiful!! I am getting ready to butcher the extra cockerals and wow will that be hard. I am wondering if you or any one can tell me more about the five points that a cockeral is supposed to show on his comb... is that from tip to back or just the points. Anyone know what I mean?

Thanks all, Beth

Thinking I need more of those, too, I have one blue orp pullet and I love how pretty and fluffy and heavy she is... should start laying any minute=)

Greetings Idahoans!

So my DH went to the Cal ranch chick days....I was too scared.....he was only supposed to see what they had and tell me. BUT no, he bought one......teensy teensy little white bantam. Pretty Cute! He is very happy with himself he has his own chicken lol

Just what I needed! I was thinking more along the lines of getting another GSL because of the big size eggs.....and this is what he brought. So funny the irony. We will love this little one though, she is very sweet and friendly.

It's not just about the points, but about the overall balance/shape/size of the comb as well. Maybe you could post some comb pictures in the orpington thread? I'm sure you'd get a lot of specific input, there. :)
Thanks! I found some general info just cruising around the web and it helped me alot. I will take a look at the oro\pington thread too. Have a great weekend everybody! Beth

I had to go to Cal Ranch to get some hay cubes and they had chicks. Of course I looked to see what they had. I didn't buy any, though. I'm surprised that they ordered so many. Most folks around here are done raising chicks for the year. I bet they will have to put them on sale for a very low price to sell them all. I found a home for my two free olive egger chicks.

Anybody looking for a nice calico bantam cochin cockeral? I'm getting down to my final picks for my breeding pens next year and I have an extra one. I also have a few blue split to mottled boys AND two blue wheaten ameraucana boys.

Lisa, that is cracking me up that your DH bought himself a chicken...

Michelle, it is a good thing I don't live closer, my DH would probably disown me, I'd be at your place so much looking at/picking up chickens... I better stay away from the Cal Ranch here, sounds like...

Baby muscovy ducks anybody? Mama brings them into the backyard everyday for a visit. Dad is a chocolate pied and mom a black pied, so all the females are chocolate pied and the boys black pied.
