Idaho?

Yes, my birds get the fodder all winter in addition to special bread I make for them in my bread machine. They have their layer feed as well. I do this to make sure they keep on enough weight to be warm and have all the nutrition they need to start laying good quality hatching eggs as early as possible in the spring. Yes, they are spoiled. :)

I had a pretty big response to an ad I placed and are now down to just what I'm keeping on the Blue Coppers. I do have 2 spares I'm growing out and it's possible that in October I could be convinced to part with one so contact me then.

Hi there!
Do you have a spare blue copper rooster you'd be willing to part with? I'd really love to give one a home to go with my blue marans pullet.
Thanks.

Send me a message in October if you are still interested. I don't know what I'll have, then. I'm re-organizing my breeding pens for 2013 and still have some decisions to make on what I want to do for next year.  :)

Hi!
Are you going have a few spare wheaten marans pullets available? I would love to come get them if you do.
Thanks.

My snowflake bobwhite quail are so cute. They like to sleep under the lamp tail to tail in a circle.

Ahh... they are so cute!! Very pretty, too!!

Special bread... si that the one where you throw a bunch of different stuff in it?? Here's a question about that, speaking of.... I read in one place that too many carbs makes them fat and they won't lay, but if they were free-ranging, espcially in a garden or where there was fruit, they would get lots of carbs, and chickens like that are usually still good layers, so what's up with that?

You just have to watch their weight and adjust their diet accordingly.

This reminded me...speaking of carbs...my GSL jumped up and grabbed a snickers bar (the last 1/4 or so) from my hand and took off like lightning. Gobbled it down, I sure hope the chocolate won't make her sick! This was the beginning of the week, she has been fine so far. Wonder if her eggs will taste like chocolate....stinker.... She eats everything, and is such a bossy pig about it. The pumpkin we threw in from the garden today...she stood on top of it and yelled at everybody to get away. We had to break it into a bunch of pieces, then she was running from piece to piece yelling at the others. She is pretty funny to watch. Probably not so fun to hang out with if you are a chicken though lol
