Idaho?

My recipes aren't trade secrets...but they're not exactly precise, either! LOL It's a one part whole wheat flour to two parts white flour base with calf manna, ground flax seed meal, yeast, red pepper flakes, eggs with the shells, olive oil, Fertrell poultry nutri-balancer, and some kind of vegetable like chopped up greens, chunks of cooked sweet potato, cooked pumpkin, etc. I have a bread machine so it's easy.

I have a really good thing to get rid of mice and voles. We get some black pvc pipe, and cut it into 12 inch pieces. The pipe is 2 inches around. We put gopher/mole/vole bait in the center of the pipe and set the tubes around the outside of the run. My dog can't get to the bait inside the pipe, or my chickens, but the little rodents go right inside and eat their demise. It works great! WE used to get tunnels all over in our grass from voles, but since we started setting the pipes around the yard in the fall, no tunnels when the snow melts. Yay!
We used to use mouse bait, but I lost some birds after they ate mice that had recently eaten the poison. I think there is a special kind of bait that won't transfer kill,,,,,but I'm too paranoid to try it. My rat zappers keep the intruders in check for the most part as long as their isn't a buffet of food in my coop.

I don't have a bread machine but I would like to get one. So you basically put all the ingredients in your bread machine and then hit the start button? That sounds pretty simple if so! Thanks for sharing!

Yes, that's pretty much it. When I want to make more than one loaf, I set it to the dough setting to mix up each batch, when the dough is in a ball, I remove it to hand roll, and then put them all in the oven to bake. If I only need one, then I let the machine do everything from start to finish. I keep extra bread in the freezer that I can use when I'm busy.

Wow, that is awesome!!! THANKS!!!! do you use the same amount of yeast that you would in a normal batch of bread? and how many eggs for each part flour, or does it matter?

great, that is very helpful... thanks so much Michelle! I always felt like I took good care of my chickens, but your ideas about the bread and fodder will help me take REALLY good care of them=)

Michelle started a really helpful thread about fodder systems.. I've learned a lot about other types of feed and spreading my resources a little better...I'll try and post the link...
