I'm happy to know that your pullet is so friendly. Some birds just stand out as being special. I have an extra blue wheaten ameraucana that I simply can't put in the freezer. He's too darn friendly! I have three silver ameraucana cockerals and two blue wheaten boys that I'm going to let run loose this winter because I don't want the friendly one to be by himself. The purebred ameraucana don't make good eating birds, anyway. If they find good shelter this winter and continue cleaning up the feed scraps the horses drop, then they should be fine. They do a fantastic job of breaking down the horse manure. They can be soup next year....maybe.....except for that blue wheaten boy. I'm going to hold him in reserve just in case my chosen breeder male doesn't work out. I think I'm gong to let the calico bantam cochin cockeral run loose for awhile as well. In addition to the ameraucana, I have two blue split to mottled bantam cockerals running loose. My husband is starting to notice how many cockerals I've failed to put in the freezer.....as there is also my spare golden cuckoo marans.....and an older black copper marans rooster......LOL
