Ideal and Araucanas?

I have a feeling you haven't read this thread - That is the point. The hatcheries know they're selling "Easter Eggers" not Ameraucanas. No, Easter Eggers are not a breed - They're mutts. So, with hatcheries selling them under false claim - Feedstores, average people, and even people wanting to breed them will also believe they are "Ameraucanas" without even bothering to look it up. There is a specific standard for Ameraucanas, as they are a real breed - They don't lay all colors of eggs as people believe, they don't come in all colors and types as people believe. Just because a feedstore or someone who breeds them says so doesn't mean it is so - I've seen countless people sell "Ameraucana hatching eggs" . . . And they're Easter Eggers. Because the breeders believe they are. Because they were told by a hatchery that they are.

Trust me, hatcheries know what they're talking about - They just wouldn't get as many customers if they told the truth, "Easter Eggers - A mutt breed that lays any color of egg but white. Comes in any color, Sometimes has a muff and beards and occasionally is rumpless. Not the same as the rare Ameraucana or Araucana."

Don't get me wrong though - I love EE's! I just don't love the spreading misunderstanding of what a real Araucana or Ameraucana is and what the differences are.
