Ideal Hatchery Question??

I was going to suggest Caldwell as well. I grew up in Nampa. Left after high school, but we had chickens growing up. I can remember mom and dad getting some, and if memory serves me correctly back then the Snake River Stampede Rodeo would have a "Miss Slick Chick" contest. During intermission you could chase and keep a chicken. I believe they got those chickens from Caldwell. Let us know what you decide to do.

I have a oder shipping the 8th. Now they only add males if you order less than 15. I made sure becuase I only wanted one extra and they said to order 14 and I would only get one extra.

I have a few of the 236's. Look like a white leghorn, maybe just a tad heavier. All 5 of my 236 hens have a few odd black feathers. Just a dot here and there. Very good layers of white eggs. Mine are 4 years old now and still laying strong.
Little less friendly than my assorted brown egg layers. The few offspring they've produced have been pretty cool. The odd dark feather becomes big paint splotches on the few chicks I've hatched from their eggs. Pinto chickens!

My Pearl is an Ideal 236. She started laying 2 weeks ago, and has only missed 2 days. She is the queen of our little flock.

She decides when everyone will go to bed, and when she's walking she pecks anyone who cuts in front of her. She's also the only one who will hop up into our laps to be petted.
I got my chicks from Ideal in February. They threw 7 roos in as packing peanuts, but it was really cold then.

those that bought bantams, what did you think? I'm looking at buying wyandotte/light brahma's, and americauna bantams. Need thoughts ASAP

I have ordered a few Bantams and ducks. I love my ducks! I don't know how representative they are of their breed, I just know they are irresistable. I did get Dutch Bantams and they do not look very pure compared to the guys I hatched from eggs off Eggbid. Also, they messed up my order and I ended up with way too many packing peanuts. I will order from them again, though. They have a good variety.

I just ordered 5 pairs from Ideal:

Black Australorp
Delaware
Rhode Island Red
Gold Sex Links
Ameraucanas

I used paypal, but there is no notification that you are supposed to send the payment via paypal yourself to [email protected]. I emailed and their responses was immediate and helpful. I just received confirmation that the order is scheduled for delivery on September the 5th, so I've got 2 weeks to get everything ready.

I ordered from Ideal this year.
4 Lafleche
4 Turkens
2 EE's
2 Yokohama's
and 4 ducklings
All arrived healthy and vigorous
I did lose one duckling to unknown causes at about 4 days old and 1 La Fleche drowned in my DD's kiddie pool.

I know it was a long way to ship, but I wanted La Fleche and only one other hatchery has them and I couldn't find a breeder.

Wanted to add, I didn't get any packing peanuts either, I got them on my DD's b-day, June 1st.
