IDEAL POULTRY VS CACKLE HATCHERY

400
AND HERE IS A TROUBLE MAKER!!

How many shipped and how many made the trip?? Your experiment excites me. I am kind of doing about the same thing as I ordered from cackle last year and am getting the same types of birds from ideal this year. Time will tell

Baby chicks are soo....cute!!

@SDLADYbird My order was for 50 but i think two will not make it. One cant even get up and the other one is just standing up with a strange position. But the rest are doing fine playing around making a lot of noise. I called them to let them know and said to wait and if they died, i could meybe get refund. They have great customer service, very fast shipping less than 24hrs and many other great things. I up loaded a vid to youtube "day old chicks from ideal poultry" by isrra5ever!!

Oh, I'm so glad you got your new babies. I'm sorry for the two that probably won't make it. It doesn't look good for the one. I really like Ideal's customer service too. Nice folks.

Nothing like baby chicks!

I ordered a mixed bag from Ideal last year 15 Norwegian Jaerhon (10 pullets, 5 cockerels), 5 sultans, 2 standard cochin pullets 1 being a blue specifically (for a friend), and then I picked up a few random chicks, some silkies and a few others. There is a feed store about an hour and a half away that gets LOADS of chicks from Ideal and I was able to have them shipped there for free.
All the chicks were great, they had come in the day before I went up to get them so had heat and feed/water overnight, all were healthy.

I started getting into Norwegian Jaers about a year and a half ago after seeing some ads online on our local craigslist. There are very few breeders of these birds, and I have most of the birds that are available in my area or southern half of my state.
I am getting new stock from Sandhill and I recently found another hatchery in New Hampshire that may have them.
I am trying my darndest to keep any inbreeding from happening, which is why I need to find other breeders.
Also I want to develop the Light or white Jaerhon, and the Flame which is sold only through Sandhill. The Light is a very neat off shoot that crops up in the light yellow or dark variety which are the more common. I have one that was miss sexed as a boy.
The truly neat thing about them is they are sex linked naturally.

Nice!! Iam kind of doing the same, here in laredo there are no old english bantmas for sale locally. My goal is for the next 8 months to a year have a nice flock and different colors to sell as backyard chickens with good quality features. But will see what happens later the chicks are so tiny and the weather is cold, im a rookie on this but I'll try my best!!

Here they are! Lost 5 of them dont know why, they were all the little tiny ones and they all had the same symptoms. I guess it was the trip or the weather maybe, but the rest seem to be doing fine so far. They eat sleep and play alot! I dont think its so bad for a begginer like me, im handeling them very well. Be prepared ideal ships really fast, i got my order in 14 hrs.
