I ordered 12 silkies to be shipped July 6th from ideal poultry.
*Has anyone ever order the variety pack of silkies, if so what colors did you get?
*Were the chicks healthy?
*Where the chicks good quality?
*Did you receive any "packing peanuts"?
*Did you get straight run, if so how many turned out to be hens/roosters?

I personally havent had experience with Ideal but have known a few that give them rave reviews.

there are hatchery review threads....

Oh and Straight runs typically the odds are 50-50.... I believe Ideal contracts out different breeds of chickens to smaller producers.... But you will have to verify that.

Good luck with your silkeys they are silly and tougher than youd expect...

I don't know if this is of any help, but I had a shipment of chicks delivered to me yesterday from Ideal.
I can only answer a few of your questions as I ordered only pullets, and they are not big enough to tell if they are boys or girls.
My chicks arrived yesterday in excellent health, I ordered 28 and receive exactly 28, so no packing peanuts. Might've been because it's sort of warm outside and they don't really need to send as many chicks to survive the cold. But maybe if you order a smaller quantity maybe you'll get some packing peanuts.

We ordered 10 chicks from ideal the first time and received 7 extras. So we are hoping that doesn't happen again.

Hey! Welcome to BYC!!! I can't answer all your questions, but I can tell you that I've dealt with Ideal four times now and each and ecru time I've received the most healthy chicks you can imagine! I've had ZERO issues with them. I guess because of the amount I ordered, there were no packing peanuts or such..... I also happen to live less than 20 minutes from their main facility. Due to regulations you can't just show up, so I still have to order. I've only ever ordered pullets, so sorry I can't answer your other questions. I can tell you that you WILL receive high quality, healthy chicks. So rest assured with that!
Best of luck!

I ordered 8 chicks and received 8 from them at the beginning of this month.
So far so good....I would order from them again.
