Ideal poultry

I don't want to over protect anything... I just want birds from a clean MG source.

MG is not like a virus... birds never become immune... and can always spread it to new birds. It's a drag to deal with.

im also confused by some statements made so far

one in particular

"MG positive travels through the eggs and is the same reason why I'm battling this disease at the moment. Come fall it's a flock clean out as it's dreadfull to have birds that have it in their system.

By the way MG is chronic... it can relapse at any time.

That is so crazy the the USDA lets this go on. Shame.... Shame..."

you yourself say you are battling this same thing MG

but i just went to your site and did a "test" order and you also are selling chickens right now?

yet you are dealing with this too?

thats where im confused at.

i can understand all the uproar thats been said so many times in the past 2 weeks here about ideal and MG+ and so on

but Ideal has explained it all clearly for all to read...yet it is still brought up every 2-3 days in some part of the forums.

i take noones side in this matter at all...and NO i do not work for Ideal at all

i just raise chickens here in sc for myself and actually enjoy doing so

as a member here i find it pretty sad to see some folks with poultry companies basically slamming each other here over and over again over the samething weekly.

if someone isnt happy with a particular hatchery that is their own choice really

there are so many to choose from for your poultry needs really

noone will ever be 100% satisfied with any hatchery

lets leave it all to the USDA to decide what is and is not safe

im sorry but i think the subject of Ideal and MG+ has gotten way out of control and has been discussed so many times here already

i mean whenever anyone asks any question pertaining to hatchery choices or Ideal in general...someone has to always bring up the same stuff over and over again.

to the Mods or Admins: if my comments are not appropriatte please delete it

and to Brunty Farms : i mean no harm at all to you and yours so apologies if you take what i said wrong.

lets get back to tending our Flocks and always have fun

You do realize that wild birds are carriers, right? If what you have in your broilers is CRD (really you should have one of the birds tested to be 100% sure), then it's already on your property. Heck, you could have even picked it up while you were at a farm store and brought it back to your farm.

LOL! Thanks for the plug, but if I worked for Ideal, I'd have to give up my exhibition birds! I don't think I could live with that!

Spelled the exact same way? lol
I have never know anyone with the exact same spelling. very cool.

That's why I was confused! I thought she was talking about me! I've never seen someone with the same spelling as me!

From what has been previous posted there is only one hatchery in the US that claims that they are MG-. I am also baffled by the fingers pointed only at Ideal and none of the other hatcheries. What baffles me even more is most posting are also sellers and do not advertise a MG- flock. I think these sellers need to step up to the plate and tell if they are clean or not, and then follow their own advice. I think this line of accusations really needs a rest. If buying from a hatchery that does not meet your qualifications then by all means pass them by. On the same token maybe other buyers need to do the same with sellers who also do not claim a clean flock.

I agree, Brunty_Farms needs to explain himself. Is he in fact also selling MG+ birds while criticizing Ideal for doing so? Or not?

I am taking no sides in this one...

but FYI Mareks is actually more like chicken pox or shingles it is a virus that once contracted you develop and immunity and only shedding it when effected. And if a bird is weak enough to become effected by it then it often (though not always) dies, breeding out the ones with the non resilient genes. But all birds come into contact with Mareks if they breath air, not so with CRD. Also like herp, chicken pox, and shingles it effects the nerves causing swelling and such around them.

MG or any CRD is different and does not work in the same way; It too can be controlled somewhat, just not well without culling those showing symptoms. It is scarier to me because there is no way for birds to develop an immunity to it so it can really cause damage epsecially in an non-antibiotic flock.

in general dealing with sick chooks stinks

Just wanted to let everyone know that I have been talking to Teri with Ideal Hatchery. He is very helpful and has answered all of my questions. He has been a pleasure to deal with.

And has also stated that if any of their customer's are having any problems with their chicks, please call him or respond to his emails, and he will gladly help you out and resolve the problem.

Hope everyone is having a great day......

Cammy
