got my chicks today! all 15 are active cheeping and healthy and what surprised me was that Ideal sent no packing peanuts...was so sure i'd end up getting atleast a few but nope just the 15 pullets i ordered for which i'm glad as i hate the hassel of trying to find them new homes

that's interesting, all I hear is about how many packing peanuts people get. I was assuming I would get a few with my 9 chicks and 2 ducklings but possibly not I guess

I love Ideal, Ive ordered twice and haven't experienced any in-transit losses, I did however lose a partridge silkie two nights ago... It of course was my fav chick out of the bunch. I also received a bunch of packing peanuts but such is life. This order I had 2 Japanese bantams, 3 frizzles, 3 polish, and 3 silkies, I ended up with 8 peanuts! They by far have the best shipping prices and my chicks have always thrived and been of decent quality.

It wouldn't surprise me if they are having bad hatches.

I don't think the Ideals shortage is due to bad hatches.I believe that the isue is the feed stores are now receiving their Chicks, and that is what is affecting the avalibility. A large chain in my area has already recieved their chicks, and another is scheduled to receive chicks this Wednesday.

that's interesting that your stores have already received chicks. From what I could gather our farm stores won't be getting their chicks until the end of March.

Our local store has them, but they came from Privett.

Our store also had some come in, but they also came from Privett. I know when I went to order my chicks and had polish in my cart it wouldn't have shipped until May, but as soon as I removed them from my purchase list the ship date was Feb 17th, I was able to call in a get a couple polish added to my order.

Ideal posted on Facebook that they are sold out until after Easter. If you don't have anything pre-ordered, you may be out of luck.
