reading these recent posts makes it clear i barely got the chicks i ordered on the 13th...i know one breed she said they were super low one but could put 3 in my order...and i think that was my BO's

i wonder if their have lots of bad hatches right now and that why there so few chicks for people to buy? like i know i only got my speckled sussex and blue cochin cause i was on the waitlist for them.

hope Ideal gets batter hatches so everyone can get the chicks they want

It wouldn't surprise me if they are having bad hatches.
I saw this on Sand Hill's website:
NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO MARCH 4, 2014 HATCH DUE TO THE EXTREMELY COLD WEATHER WE ARE HAVING. CURRENTLY THE MARCH 18, 2014 HATCH DOES NOT LOOK VERY PROMISING AS WELL. WE WILL RETURN TO CONFIRMING ORDERS THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 17 ONCE WE HAVE A HANDLE ON THE WEATHER AND HOW QUICKLY THE BREEDERS CAN RECOVER FROM THE PAST TWO MONTHS OF EXTREME COLD. CHECK BACK HERE FOR FUTURE UPDATES AS WE SEE HOW THIS WILL IMPACT LATER HATCHES.

I'm thinking that chicks are hatching well for them because they're emailing me weekly with extra chicks and ducklings to move out at lower prices. Maybe they are just getting excessive orders for the popular breeds. They've been long on bantams, ducks and LF polish, brown leghorns and buff orps.

I'm thinking it may just be taking them so long to get my poultry to me because I chose 9 different breeds of chickens. I also have a couple ducklings. Maybe the fact that I didn't order the same type of chicks is my problem.

i've gon in and acted like i was going to order 15 of the same breed of chick and it still to me that it'd be shipped in may. i really just think their having poor hatches

I had an absolute awesome experience with Ideal. I ordered 12 cochin chicks. 3 barred(2 female 1 male) 3 silver laced, same combo as the barred. 2 gold laced, 2 blues, a black and a partridge, all female. My chicks are 4 weeks old yesterday and are doing great. My little cockerels are starting to assert themselves in the brooder and all are feathing nicely. If I order from a hatchery again, it will absolutely be with Ideal. Great experience overall.
This is them early on.

This is one of my boys this morning. He is very inquisitive when a hand comes in the brooder. Loves to be held and have his chest scratched.

All these positive experiences with Ideal are making me excited to get my own :) I can't wait! From the sounds of it they are well worth the wait for their chicks right now!

my 5 LF Cochin hens in my siggy are from Ideal and they are the sweetest friendliest chickens. in my new order which should be here tomorrow hopefully has three blue cochin pullets in it...and they be as sweet as my 5 girls i bet.

I'm so excited for you! do you let your postmaster know the chicks are coming beforehand?
