I just ordered from Ideal this year and they were so nice. They sent the order Tuesday night and I got it this morning (Thursday). All were good except one silver-laced wyandotte and she died later in the day. Never really thrived and was smaller. They also only shipped 9 silkies instead of 10. I emailed the salesperson and within 3 minutes they had credited my account. They really do try to please the customer. I had put in an order and added to it twice, both breeds were not available. Within 1 day for each one, they called me and emailed me to let me know when they would be available and since I did not want the chicks shipped til this week, they were able to add them to the original order. I cannot complain on their service!

I am so glad your experience was similar to mine! Please google "Ideal Poultry reviews" and find the Dave's garden link. Several people have posted stupid negative reviews on there saying such things as - " I wanted birds the next week and Ideal did not have them even though they showed as available on the web site!" I paraphrased that quote, but the meaning is clear! Ideal ships millions of birds every year and they are BUSY! Chicks are not an "instant gratification" item.

If you have the time and the ability, please share your experience on any site you can!

Chicks die, humans make mistakes, but by and large, Ideal sells great chicks!

"No, I don't work for them or get any kickback from them!" I had several great experiences and I feel they deserve a shout out!

I just received my first-ever chicks from Ideal a few days ago. Not a single one was lost. There was a minor issue but I called and it was resolved immediately. I am expecting another shipment in a few weeks!!

The chicks are very healthy, and I am very happy!

I'm another happy Ideal customer. I wanted to point out that if there is a particular breed you want that is listed as sold-out, you should call or email them. If you have some flexibility on when you take delivery & are able to take them on short notice, they are likely to have some extra birds at some point during the season.

If you sign up on the notify list, they might surprise you. I signed up on the Welsummer notify before I found the person I'm buying from this year because that was one of my "must try" breeds. After a couple of weeks, they sent me an email stating that I could get them if I responded within 48 hours but that I would need to call to place the order because they were not opening up ordering on the website.

But anyway, no they did not get my business this year because I'd found a local source by the time they contacted me and I was happy to avoid the shipping process.

I just got my chicks from Ideal. I ordered 21 bantams and received 26. They had to sub out some and I guess they threw in extras 'cuz they felt bad, lol. All were alive and look healthy.

Really? Man, you should consider that those green ones on the right are indeed possible. I honestly thought those were Olive Egger eggs. You should get some Olive Eggers anyway.

Interesting how the fake eggs resemble real colors so well. I honestly thought most were yellow, bright pink, bright neon green, blue, etc.

I have received two orders from Ideal in the past month and I have been extremely pleased with them. I placed a 'notify me' on Dark Brahma pullets and within 2 days they called me and let me know they could have my dozen in three weeks. SO I ordered 12 brahmas and 12 polish assorted. Then they called a week early and said they had a cancelled order and if I wanted my order they could send a week early. So I got my chicks way earlier than I originally thought due to their site saying "out of stock till May"

I then turned around and ordered some bantams and a few brahma males that I forgot to order with the original order.

In all I have 48 chicks 4 days old to 2 weeks old right now and I have only lost ONE and that was just because it got picked on by the others and just failed to thrive.

If I order chicks again Ideal is definately who I will be going to.
