Ideal Poultry's Rare Breed Special - PICTURES!

I'm so sorry to hear that. I wonder if the heat in transit could have hurt them.

Yeah, I was so dissapointed when I looked in the brooder box on Sunday morning. Ideal contacted me back and said that the vitamin/electrolyte solution I gave them was too concentrated and dehydrated the chicks. I used the recommended measure on the back of the packet, but they said it was too strong for chicks. Weird.

The good thing is that they are sending a new shipment this week.

PLEASE TELL ME WHERE?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The ONLY hatchery I could find where you could just buy pullets was my pet chicken, and there was a $7.00 price difference EACH ($3/straight run $10/just pullets EACH)

OMG! I am SOOOOOOOOOO sorry for your loss...............that is so terrible..................are you ok?........................that really SUCKS!!!to suffer the wait, finally get them omg......................bless your heart.

I ordered 25 that are suppposed to be shipped from Cackle tomorrow at 0500. I hadn't even THOUGHT about what I would do if they died..........................and I was soooo looking forward to my chicks!!!

I hope they don't make you wait too long. I will say a sweet little prayer for your chicks. We have a graveyard in our yard (my daughter is only 9) with a chick (japanese black tailed buff hen, Sunshine), Teal the chocolate Lab (only dog I've ever owned), Lucy a BO hen and ahhhhhh probably about 8 eggs that a broody hen left on her nest (she got up on day 2 after 1st chick hatched) - my daughter just wouldn't accept anything but fitting them in an adorable little box and burying them.

What's up with the vitamin/electrolyte stuff? That sounds a little funny. maybe someone else somewhere had your similar story?? Never heard of chicks dying of DEHYDRATION from giving them supplements???

Will be thinking of you as your new chicks arrive. The pictures you posted of each group on the other page was ADORABLE!!!!!!!! I really enjoyed looking at the differences, wow the one with the stripe was just amazinly unique!

You must be talking about bantams.... MPC is the only place you can purchase sexed bantams, but I don't know how accurate they are anyways.

Well, the replacement shipment came in yesterday morning. There was 1 DOA but the rest are doing great - a lot better than the last set. However, they didn't send rare breeds this time. I got a box of Barred Rocks, Black Australorps, Buff Orpingtons, a couple other chicks (RIR?), and 1 Turken. That was kind of disappointing, but at least they were kind enough to send another set.

CONGRATS on the new chicks. They may not be RARE - - - But that is good selection of some of the BEST Egg layers there.

Anything you don't want - - - you should have no problem selling on Craigslist - - -

Then you can try to do the chicken math again !

I would love that selection of Egg Layers
