Ideas for breeds of chickens!

Your Ameraucana are most likely Easter Eggers, especially since you make no mention of their color/variety. For friendly chickens with loads of personality, you can't beat Barred Rocks. Australorps and Orpingtons are very gentle birds. Salmon Faverolles tend to have very goofy personalities. Cochins are the most likely to become 'lap chickens', but they aren't great layers. Other breeds to consider are Delaware, Speckled Sussex, and Welsummer.

They have tented green legs, a couple of them have very funny personalities! I'll post a pic sometime today so you can see them!
I would like to get some chickens that are different colored too!

RIR, Hew Hampshire Red, the Rocks, Wyandottes, and Delewares were all developed in colder states to deal with winters long before coops were heated. Cochins and Brahmas will also deal with the cold very handily. Some of these come in multiple varieties and some like the reds only come in one. I live in North Carolina and while we're no where near the cold of the north east or Midwest we do see the occasional night go below freezing and some days in the 30s so far this year. None of mine have seemed to care about it one iota, and they came through our summer heat like champs.

Are New Hampshire Red like RIR? I was thinking i heard something that there very similar to each other!

True Rhode Island Reds and true New Hampshires are very different birds. Hatchery/feed store sourced versions of the breeds are basically the same thing, just different shades of red.

Here is the photo that you see when i post something! i think its called the avatar pic. The gray and white chicken is an ameraucana. There is another gray striped white colored close to the fence that is an ameraucana. There are 4 RIR and 5 Ameraucana's!
