Idel hatchery Users!I need Help please.

We ordered 28 chicks from Ideal last month and received 34, so 6 here. But - it was brutal cold up here in Pennsylvania at that time. It was 15 degrees the day they came in.

We lost only 1 chick, it was the smallest one. If you call Ideal, they will let you know. I agree they have excellent customer service.

In January I ordered 19 chickies from Ideal and got NO "packing peanuts". A couple were dead when they arrived and about 3 or 4 more died within the first 48 hours I had them. So they said they would replace the ones that died or give me a credit. I told them I would order the replacements but wanted to wait till February to get them, and I would order a couple more also.

In February when the 9 new chick replacements came in there were NO "packing peanuts" and all 9 of them were dead frozen popcycles.

So when March came around and I got my new 9 replacements in plus 1 more I added to the order I got 9 additional "packing peanuts".

I have always called them to place my order and never placed my order online. They have been Super Friendly and Pleasent to deal with.

So you never know how many "packing peanuts" you will end up with but I'm sure the weather has something to due with how many extras if any you end up with.

I am ordering 14 Chickens this week,and so far weather has been in the 60's.So I dont mind if I get Peanuts recuse I want the chicks to come safe and healthy.

You don't have to get males for warmth. Call and let them know you don't want them, and buy insurance. It's very cheap, less than $2.

I received my shipment yesterday from Ideal. No packing peanuts

. I wouldn't have minded a few. Oh well, it must all depend on weather at the time of shipment in how many they will send or not.

When i ordered 10 pullets from them they sent 7 males for warmth . They say you can buy insurance instead of roosters if you want.

I ordered 14 and they added six males for warmth.

When I ordered from Ideal I specified that I did not want anymore than the 6 I ordered because I had no room for them and no one to give them to. They were very understanding and only sent the 6 who arrived 2 days ago in fine shape.

I got the insurance instead and it was only 1.85.

Just call them and they will work with you.

You can ask for NO packing peanuts but if you order under 25 they ask you to buy insurance or I don't think they will refund your loss if there was one. I called them about a million times and really wasn't fond of Ragina but like the other lady's. Ragina seemed to try to take the easy way out and just tell me that there were no more baby chicks when I tried to change my order...but when I was going to cancel my order she FOUND some! lol So I got what I wanted when I wanted them. But the soonest they found for delivery for my chicks was May 23

And I ordered weeks ago.
