Identify this snake?

What do you mean it’s going to use? I paid for that baby chick to produce eggs for me not to feed snakes. I used to give non poisonous snakes a walk but no more. I don’t need to understand them better. I will do what I have to do to protect my chickens.
Never back off when you are RIGHT. I wouldn't say that I love snakes, but I don't hate 'em. You said it... Everything has a purpose.

Like I said before ,we have cats and very rarely see any rats or mice.I do not like snakes period, and I do feel like they are a threat to my flock. This is not my first time to have chickens either. So I am not a newbie at this. All I can say is I hope the snakes do not cross my path.

Black Rat Snake. Commonly found in North Fl/Georgia/Carolina's.
1000% harmless unless you are an insect/lizard/rodent.
Long before man kind started spraying toxic poison to kill pests, mother nature engineered this all natural pest control.
As far as it growing up to eat you eggs, it will smell mice rats or mice FIRST, follow the scent and find your eggs by accident.

In the S.E. USA, If you have rodents in the area, you have rat snakes everywhere. Harmless to humans, just scary if you haven't seen them up close.

(I meant if she had no clue what it was.)

:D

I was bit by a harmless snake before when I was a kid. >.< didn't even wash it. I'm so tough.
There you go! What doesn't kill, just makes ya stronger.
My nutso hubby had a tank of snakes 30 yrs ago. Yellow rats/ Red Rats (corn)/ Black rats. They were creepy to me. When we hitched up I made him ditch the snakes. He chose me.. woot! But the perk to the whole deal is, when I see one on the property, I yell like a damsel in distress and he walks over and snatches them up in the blink of an eye. He will cut a corral snake or pygmy rattler in half. No offense to the snake lovers but, venom is a whole different ball game. Dying on the way to the hospital from organ failure is a serious reality.
It is best to educate one's self of friendly and deadly reptiles/snakes. The king snake looks like a corral snake without have been educated to tell the difference. The difference could be life or death.

:D I completely forgot US hospital visits aren't free. and for me better safe than sorry or dead. I like snakes but I lived on the prairies for a while and the idea of stumbling on a rattler kept me from hiking out there.

ROFL :gig

Going to the hospital for a snake bite is not silly they may not be poisonous but still carry tons of bacteria that cause in some cases life threatening infections so if you feel like your bite wound isn’t healing properly by all means get it checked out at a hospital

I don't know if anyone was actually bitten.
