I have yet to get good pics of this chick, but here goes. I got a group of chicks 7 weeks ago. 3 were EEs and 4 were Ameruacana (she has breeding stock). I had to cull one of the EEs, so that leaves 6. All the chicks are black with vanishing white on the head or no white at all. One particular chick has some brown tipping on some of the wing feathers and some brown showing up on his chest. His comb, which is a pea comb, is reddening more than the others.
I believe I have read that brown appearing is a sign of a roo in an EE- not sure about an Ameruacana- is that true.
Also to make matters more interesting, I was really excited to get the chicks and forgot which were which. All have slate/black legs and even the EEs parents were an Ameruacana roo over a EE (whose parents were same mix- Ameruacana over EE) hen. not interested in breeding, but these chicks have been so different than my first batch BOs and Prod. Reds, that I'm totally puzzled.
I'll post pics as soon as my camera appears :/

First of all, Easter Eggers are not a recognized chicken breed. They are other chickens related to Ameraucanas and Araucanas that have the "Blue-Egg Gene". Some Ameraucanas that do not fit the breed standards are called Easter Eggers. I am raising Ameraucana/mix pullets currently. My guess would be that the one with the bigger, redder comb would be the cockerel, as everybody else would say. A standard Ameraucana has slate or black legs, and the famous muffs and beard, no feathered legs, a pea comb, and tight feathers. (Just a few specifics.) I can't wait to see the pictures of your chicks, though. Both of my Ameraucana/mix pullets are barred with feathered legs.

This pullet is my main girl, Pepper (14 weeks old).
