I have 2 Rhode Island Blues, 2 Americana, and 2 older already laying Black Brahmas. Literally my first time with chickens- started about a month + ago.

One of the RIB seems to be developing faster- not sure if it’s simple a week or so older or if it’s a rooster. I’ve seen pictures of some hens having the red bits (no I don’t know proper names sorry) on the sides of their beaks but the other RIB does not yet. Also, the breasts or chest is a bit higher/a bit more developed.

Thoughts or ideas on how to identify without man handling and finding the “giblets”? haha

The comb is a bit different on Umbrella too compared to the other RIB. Which is the black on.

And my Brahmas simply because I think they’re pretty girls.

So pretty!

You could be completely right. That’s just what I’ve been told when getting them 🤷🏼‍♀️
It's a common mistake. Dark Brahmas like yours are just silver pencilled. Many Brahma varieties have some odd naming standards compared to other breeds. :) Light and buff are just Brahma names for columbian and buff columbian too and that's not even getting into the super strange ones like blue silver orange! 😳

Here are better pictures of umbrella
