Howdy,

I have 11 chickens 17 weeks old.
Barred rocks
Easter eggers
Gold laced and blue laced red wyandottes

At this age is there an easy way to tell if any are roosters?

At 17 weeks, if you have roosters, you will start to hear clumsy attempts to crow, they will be much more colorful and flashy than the pullets, have large, very red combs compared to pullets' smaller pale pink combs, slender saddle feathers hanging off the back and curved sickle feathers beginning to shoot out of the tails.

Thanks :D

Not hearing crows i don't think. But they do make a bunch of soft cute noises.

They all pretty much look like each other, nothing really colorful, but some seem to have blue on the edges of feathers in the right light.

Most the combs are still growing and all look the same, pretty much red though.

Not seeing any sickles or saddle indications.

I'm thinking i have no roosters or maybe they just don't show it yet. Kinda surprised that out of 11 they all female.

I'll try and get a bunch of pics tomorrow

Thank you, that would help. By what you have told us it doesn't seem like you have any but like I said pictures would really help. So thanks and I hope that others and myself can be of further help to you!

Kinda hoping for at least one. They threw three extra in my brothers box and he said he got 3 or more roosters out of like 6 haha so maybe I'll get lucky and have 1 rooster. I could have one of his i guess but he's 5 hours away and not sure if they'd all get along.

I get that, I hope you are lucky and just get one :)

At 17 weeks the boys will *probably* be showing male saddle feathers.

Some late developers might not quite be there yet, but that's the surest sign.

This is an 18-week-old Blue Australorp, with his male hackles and saddles well-grown in:

He's an early developer. Many boys won't be quite so mature-looking at this age.

Darn, maybe they are not showing yet, but i think they are all female
