If a rabbit is bred to early

I have Holland Lops and Lionheads. When I palpate I don't come in contact with poo, so I am a little curious what exactly you are doing when you palpate.

As far as if she is prego, she could be, but like others have said, you'll lose the litter before the rabbit. Do you have another Doe due around the same time? If you do, and this Doe does kindle, you can foster the kits to the other Doe. I breed at the very least 2 Does at a time, generally it is more like 3 or 4, just in case I need to foster kits.

Good luck! Keep an eye on her and if she does have them on the wire that doesn't mean you can't save them. I have network cameras on my does so I can keep an eye on them. I've saved dozens of kits because I've been able to watch the Does. At night I sleep with my laptop next to me and the volume low, but still able to hear, plus I wake up every hour or two to check on them! Yes, I'm a bit psychotic, but my DH has learned to deal with me!

it is very hard. I had the help of a vet, and lost every single one, by the time they were 2 weeks old. Something in their moms milk they need and really isn't a good replacer. She was a first time mom, and actually was eating her babies so I took them.
I gave them meds, harvested fresh poop to put in their milk from their mom.
I even did bunny CPR, they all died anyway and it was heart breaking.

I've done it with wild baby rabbits, but like you said, its hard. I believe only one survived out 3.

I was surprised to see this forum on Back Yard chickens but glad it was here. My wife left a cage door open and one of the 12 week old California females got out. Don't know how long she was out for but we have a 1 yr. old male, (I think they're called Lionheads), running lose in the yard. So we don't know if he bred her but this is the 16th day and we hope to be ready, in case she does have babies. Thanks to all for your info! :)

When you put any two rabbits together, regardless of gender, they will immediately become very excited at seeing and smelling another rabbit and either start humping each other or fighting. It's just something rabbits do.

The buck is breeding age, but the doe, is really young at nine weeks. Rabbits can mate very quickly IF the doe is receptive, not running from the buck. All you can do now if mark the date on your calendar. Most rabbits kindle in about 28 days.

Is it possible your doe is bred? Yes, but I really don't think it's very likely if they were only together a few minutes. If a young doe is caged with a buck, they can come into season earlier, but if she's been caged separately, she's not likely to be ready for breeding until she is about 4-5 months old.

If she is expecting, you are more likely to lose the litter than the doe. Sometimes they scatter the bunnies, who get chilled and die, THEN build a nest. Nature is telling her what to do, but first timers may do it in the wrong order.

Good luck with your rabbits!
Rabbits can physically breed very early, even at 2-3months. If they get pregnant too early, you sometimes loose the doe. But it does happen, and they usually end up fine, but are not great Mamas that young.

Chances are she will end up fine, but there is a small risk. And she is probably pregnant.
I have two 4 month old mini lops I was told that they were both girl and then just today I saw one humping the other one I check to see if it was a girl or a boy and he was definitely a boy. And I’m really not sure what to do now. I have separated them but I am still really worried they have been living together for like 2 months so who knows what they have been doing. They are not related so that’s a plus I guess but I’m still so scared…..

What do I do though? it is winter here so I am thinking I might have to put her hutch in the shed for a little bit. So how do I prevent losing my bun or her kits?

It can be difficult to tell for sure if doe rabbits are in fact bred while 4 months is a bit young for ideal, since she is a mini lop hopefully if she is bred, she’ll be fine
@Everose and others may be able to give more info specifically related to lops.
Should definitely make sure that temps for mom and babies are not too cold and draft-free. And put a nest box in place at least 4 days before avg kindling date for breed

Insulate. Fill her cage with plenty of hay, and give her a nest box. Rabbits do much better having babies in cold temps than hot temps.
How big is she? How much do you feed her?
