The astericks are fine...lol, you may see a few of those in my postings and they may not be typos. If it is, and they haven't been vaccinated for it then the corid will do the trick if it's needed. If they aren't showing other signs, like hunching and ruffled feathers, it's probably just the stress of someone around they aren't used to as well as the pounding. Let them drink the vitamin water and relax a bit before you put them on anything else. Just keep your eyes open for the next couple of days. Anything doesn't seem right or they are sitting hunched and feathers fluffed out, do the Corid of course.

Just another thought...I normally keep my birds on the medicated until they have hit the ground for a while. It isn't going to hurt them and it may keep them from ever having to worry about it.

Now that you mention it, they DID look a bit "funny" to me, when I got home, the way they were sitting is what I thought...they usually stretch out, but they seemed shorter???

Well, I would, but I just bought the new feed and spent $45.00 bucks at TSC for meds, so am tapped for chickens for a bit...will talk to the landlord tomorrow and see if he will buy a bag, but I doubt they will eat two 50 lb bags of crumbles before they need to go on a different feed....hate to waste feed, it being $17.00 bucks here. Have PLENTY of corrid now

Does that need to be kept in an air tight container as well as the antibiotics, once opened? Gosh it was long ago when I raised chickens, I don't remember there being so many diseases and parasites...if there was, we didn't notice maybe? We had really healthy birds too! Thank you all for your help also. I was really running in circles trying to get this done and something into them before dark. I KNEW they wouldn't eat or drink after dark. WE have a strick routine, strict biosecurity, I run a pretty tight ship, then today, obligations away from here called and I had no choice...not realizing the ding dong would pull something so stupid and totally opposite of what I had said. Still shaking head and madder than a wet hen, pun intended!

I'll bet a lot that you 'forgot' is in there and just wouldn't come because these are your birds and the panic had already settled in. If you have the Corid and you think that there may be something brewing, do it. It won't hurt them if it isn't cocci.

Do you have a light out with them? Mine, all I have to do is put on the light and they get up to eat and drink no matter what time it is. Goofy birds, lol! They don't get angry because someone woke them...their first thought is "YUM! it's time to eat!". Gotta love it.

An update; Got up at 5am, but waited till bout 5:45 am to go out to the coop, so they would be up, moving around and pooping. I wanted a good look at the poo this morning. NO RUNNY POO's!!!! I stayed till just now, to watch and tap finger on and in water with save a chik in it, to get them drinking, and got most if not all to get a real good drink. I really have a hard time telling the difference between some of the pullets.

Had 4 to 5 in my arms which is WAYYYY not usual, the will usually bicker and I can only get two at a time, snuggled in, but they really must've been stressed, cause even the ones that didn't take turns in my arms, snuggled around me real close. I was sitting on the floor with them. I even had the two KNOWN cockerels and the I don't know all at once, in my arms, snuggled up for a bit, which has NEVER happened before...

Lots where eating, I usually discourage them getting IN the feeder, but thought since they didn't eat yesterday, I would let it slide and two were inside eating, one in, then the other would shoo that one out and go in herself...two of the pullets have a habit of trying to get away with that one...for some reason the food in the feeder is wayyyy better than what is in the tray part????? all the same feed???? whatever, they eat in shifts, the pecking order thing, ya know, so was hard to tell, but their appetite seemed to come back after I got them to drink the save a chik. They ate really good too!!! I think they all ate, as after a while, they started preening and settled for a nap, as they were up wayyy too late last night and it was on me, in my arms or around me, they settled.

I don't think we are out of the woods yet. I did look at them closer and about 4-6 of them have tails pointed down not out straight or a bit up, and they DO look hunched..they don't have that bit of a curve the pullets usually have, those few, and I had one more look a bit fluffy, but then again, it is cool, we had a cold night last night. BUT, no runny poo's, and a bit more vigor this morning...so will continue to watch them. I left their water, as it was cold last night and late when I got it out with the save a chik in it and only bought 3 packages, so only have enough for 2 more gallons...think I will make up a gallon, and then only bit some of the water in the water container, to make it last. I'm going to let them sleep now and try to get a bit more myself...was a LONGGGG night, and go check on them again in a hour or so.

Will update if things go backwards or get really better...either way, will update and/or ask if you think I need to start the corrid, but am watching them closely !!!

They should be okay. One thing...if the hardware cloth is on the inside of the window, it would be very easy for a predator to push it in and gain entrance. Much better to mount it on the outside of the window and put boards over the edges of it so it isn't easily pulled off. For the rest, there isn't much you can do. Do you and your birds a favor though, get them used to noise. My birds are around compressors, nail guns, saws etc., a lot and they never bat an eye. This is a good thing. I understand that this was a freak thing and shouldn't have happened, but this should show you that it could happen again and you may not be there then either, for damage control. Just a thought.

I missed this one last night Haunted55, WE have been building there, just not banging on their coop, with them in it...they are a hatcher lot and seem more "flighty" than the heritage birds. PLUS the only safe place they have right now it their coop. The roof was screwed on with them in it, they have heard the skill saw right outside, but pounding on their coop, for now, is a NO GO....I talk to them as I walk towards their coop, so they know it's me, but whatever happened, and I suspect they got out and got chased around trying to catch them...but have no proof, but with the lock off the door, and he had walked off to another project, his truck, by the time I got back, I highly suspect it was more than just pounding on their coop. That brick would not hold the door well, did not hold the door well, and when the lock is off, which apparently he took off to attach the tar paper to that side of the wall, the door swings open freely. Anyways, I have attempted to talk with him this morning, not sure he listened, but he was told to NOT GO NEAR the coop, the chicks, or whatever,unless I am here. OH and the lawn is mowed right by the coop, so they are used to some noise but not directly on their one safe place.

I had planned on the way you said, but the stupid manager put the window on the outside of the trim even????? Not what I had told him I wanted to begin with at all....like I said, he does not listen well, especially to a female, and thinks he knows better...when he has never raised chickens, I have, built a coop, I have, many...so I intend to talk with him further, because he walked off on me just now...sigh....I am also going to talk with the landlord, when ever he gets up??? and see what HE can do to help with this also, since this is a lot of his money going into this project and we have atleast two more buildings and more runs to put up for the heritage birds next spring. I'm going back to the heritage birds....

Oh another thing, there IS lots of noise here, there is an INN that is rented here with kids hollering, a shooting range not far from us, as the crow flies, and a cop right down the road that shoots on his property for practice, and there were tons of fireworks this year too. Lots of building projects, and fixes for the four rental cabins, one of which I rent also. As I don't know what went on, though highly suspect they got out somehow, as well as their coop being directly pounded on...that I DO know, as there is tar paper all over most of it...it is not always totally quiet, so they have been exposed to different loud noises. I still wouldn't want him pounding on their coop with them in it....in the run, that's ok...they can see what is going on...and I will be there too...as long as they see me, hear me, as I am Momma, apparently, they are fine with most noises also...I honestly think something more went on but again, I don't know....also, my cabin is not but 25 or so feet from their coop, so as little chicks, they did hear all that building noise also as it was hot and I keep my windows open in the summer even at night. I just don't know what happened that stressed them out so bad??????

Anyways...thanks for all the suggestions, some of the things are already done and can't be fixed unfortunately or I would definitely take your suggestions and if I could redo the windows, but that is not possible now, or have him that is...I am not allowed to use the power tools because I am a girl and might hurt myself...????? Have used power tools most of my life, this guy is just a jerk...the landlord is a really nice guy though and we get along fine...it's just the mananger I have issues with....thanks sooo much for ALL your help.

Certain vitamins interfere with Corid's effect on Coccidiosis. You can give probiotics during the treatment time, though, and definitely boost their systems by giving Sav-a-Chic after the treatment.

Thank you, I am going to give it in the morning I think because tonight, when I went out to change their night water, I found 3 runny poo's again, maybe the one or ones that has an overload got a little of that corrid in her last night? It was running out of the water container in their old brooder they were in, which was on an angle so the water was flowng out and some did drink a little bit of the corrid water. All day, no runny poo's till tonight, then 3 of them, and recently pooed...so to be safe, if there are more runny poo's in the morning, I am going to start them on the corrid and see if that does the trick. Nice to know I can give the electrolytes with it, seems any meds would tax their system, thanks so much!!!

Other than that, most of them look good, most tails are back up and not looking hunchy anymore, but the one that didn't come running last night, my big girl, just seems off and is still looking a bit hunchy, tail down a bit fluffy....I sat with them tonight for quite a while to see if I could see who has the runny poo, but of course that didn't work. Oh and the guys took off, while I was busy, so seems something went on no one wants to fess up to and I was going to ask them both, today if the chicks got out...really think they did...usually much instincts are spot on, really wish I knew for sure, but that is not going to happen, the more info I have, the better I can treat them...sigh men!!!! Run like scared chickens when they mess up, but claim a woman is less and helpless ...pffftttt!!!

Will let you know, I expect to see more runny poos tomorrow morning, it is dusk so won't be able to get them to drink now anyways...got more of the sav a chick in them today though and seems to have perked up most. Wondering if I have one or two that have a heavier load or a weaker immune system????? Is that possible? Or does it just start with a few and spread, as it seemed to yesturyday??? Thanks again!

Yep, have the vitamins for after to help build their tummies and intestines back up to normal flora. Figured I'd pick up everything I could while I was there....it is a bit of a haul, so saves gas atleast! Thanks so much for the reminder though!!!

Wow... Sorry to hear about all that mithious... I think what everyone saying is about the best and only thing you can do... I hope they feel better I know mine had real bad diarrhea for a few days but it passed and all is good! I hope its just a temp thing from switching feed!

NC chick man, I went back to the crumbles, they weren't eating the pellets, even when hand fed, they would pick it up and throw it on the floor. I ground some up and they did eat a BIT, but the blender started on fire, smoke, then flames by the time I got the top part off it, so called the feed store and they said, most are ready for the pellets now, but seems mine are not, and suggested the crumbles for a longer time. I had intended to feed just the one bag of medicated so picked up a bag of unmed, but same brand, same ingredients, less the meds...I am really starting to think this is cocci. I have no clue how much, if any, they did drink of the brooder floor, seems it couldn't have been much, but some did go after it,while it was running down the floor of the brooder, so maybe some got a bit? and that helped? till tonight? IDK..thanks NC ChickMan!!!! this is horrible!!!! I feel so bad for the poor things...they so depend on me to do the right thing and I feel I let them down, yet they still crawl in my lap, and it breaks my heart to think, because I wasn't here, they are sick and feeling lousy and I am trying to figure this all out, as to what is going on with NO info on what happened...as the guys took off!!! Seems fishy to me!!!!
