Those businesses were already in place- they're called Oil Companies, Recyclers and Auto Manufacturers.
So-called "global warming" has been shot full of so many holes, they had to start calling it "climate change".
Everyone can sit here and post links to bolster their theories and the links are no better than what the person's opinion are who wrote them. The internet, wikipedia and what have you are not Gospel and every source of information is completely manipulated to assist your arrival to the author's conclusion.
A little common sense is in order regarding global warming. Just the fact it has been spun and repackaged over the past two years should tell you it's pure charlatainism.

Seriously, I laughed reading that your arguments to disprove a theory are "Everyone can sit here and post links to bolster their theories and the links are no better than what the person's opinion are who wrote them."
And, at the same time you say "So-called "global warming" has been shot full of so many holes, they had to start calling it "climate change".", seriously, how does someone can get this conclusion from, other then their opinion?

This perfectly illustrates my point, you read what you want to read to help you reach your desired conclusion. If enough people said climate change was caused by drinking too much tea in China, someone would figure out a way to make money off of that theory and someone would figure out a way to make it look legitimate.
Just say no to the Kool-Aid.

You're right, they're not gospel. Unlike gospel, there is evidence supporting it.

Except for all those divinely-inspired writings and dead sea scrolls and stuff, yeah the Gospel's made up. Perhaps reading The Case For Christ would be a good place to start.

Yep...that's exactly what I meant.

Please let's not turn a discussion about global warming and volcano corking (

) into a religious or political debate. Pretty please?

I am afraid I am guilty about making a post about volcano corking. Couldn't resist. Couldn't get the image out of my mind. Still can't. How would you go about corking a volcano? And what would happen if you did? Don't think I want to know the answer to that one. Sillier things have been proposed. Well, maybe not sillier but almost as daft. There was the congressman who decided to solve our solid waste problem by using the Grand Canyon as a landfill. Another idiot proposed in all seriousness that we ought to blow up the moon so we wouldn't be bothered by tides or somesuch. With all the hot air generated by the debates on global warnig, that in itself should raise the temperature at least a couple degrees. I don't think the whole concept of global warming itself is much in doubt anymore. Just the cause.

I think the change in nomenclature, global warming to climate change, is due to the whole global idea. As the overall temperature of the planet increases, certain areas will probably get cooler, particularly coastal areas. Rain shadowed areas, i.e. the American Great Plains, Russian Steppes, etc are going to see hotter, dryer weather, while some coastal areas may cool and become wetter. Overall temperatures are still warmer, but some areas are cooler.

Changes may be even more radical if ocean currents shift dramatically.

I also think we are past the tipping point.

I am not an Eco-historian. But, history shows our Earth has warming and cooling cycles every 500 years or so. The last ice age was in the Middle Ages. It is time for another one.

Cycles are not all that regular. The heating we are and will be seeing is going to be well beyond the variations we have seen in last several thousand years. Before we got inklings of the oncoming climates changes we were already in the warmer end of the short-term cycles you are eluding to.

Mathew3590,
Many people, either because of limited resources, or being too slow to react will face serious hardships. There will be wars and parts of US presently only marginally suitable for agriculture will not longer be suitable. Other places may become more suitable. Will you tolerate people from other states or even countries horning in on your acreage because they have nowhere else to go?
