The point is NOT to wait till its to late to join in communities online or in your neighborhood- they might know where to point you to have 'pets allowed' housing and they will be more willing to help if you are an established member.

It take what, 5 min each board for the other animals? I don't have any of those critters or I'd send links but I'm sure there are great ferret and turtle communities.

As for the church thing that would be a permitting issue also depending on your location, but your church may have members willing to let you borrow the back pert of their land or something or you might be rual enough that the whole thing could be moved to the church- that one is the one I'm least sure about.

go, make friends - they might have better suggestions.

Being in the same boat, I send you my deepest sympathies and best wishes for the future. The internet will be the last service to go, because the pitiful profit I make comes from there.
Good luck to you and your family.

Oh and if you are a good little payor most places will give leniency if you call them and let them know, when DH lost his job most of the dest got defered one year two for two years, then he was blessed with a better job.

This is why I tell all my friends how important it is to always pay what you can on time -more when able, so if this happens you can say 'but I'm trying and still promise to fulfill my debt to you, I just need a different pay schedule- are you willing to work with me on this?'

If it looks like things are going downhill fast, I'd start rehoming the animals at that point. I was just thinking today that I may have to rehome some of my chickens since I'm not making any $$$ on them now. I do sell hatching eggs on occasion, but that doesn't pay for much, really. Best to do it before you are forced to and hope things turn around.

I'm sorry, this is going to sound cold and hard, but I have been poor enough to not know where my next meal is coming from and dependent on a landlord's charity for a month hoping that next month's commissions would allow us to pay 2 months' rent.

In those circumstances you can't afford sentimental attachments to anything other than your spouse and kids. We sold the antique buffet that my DH had given to me as a wedding present. We sold a couple family heirlooms. We found a no-kill shelter for our cats and moved to a no-pets place with a cheaper rent. We cried, but the children came before the cats.

If you are facing desperately hard times your livestock are no longer pets -- they are assets that can be sold for money to pay the bills or food for your table.

Its no fun thinking about such things, but life gets like that sometimes.

Im not at that point-Thank you God! If I had to though I could easily find 3 people who would take all my birds and they would be very well taken care of-the house pets would come with us-2 dogs 2 cats-they are actually just like my children-It would break my heart to lose my fluffy butts. but it also warms my heart that in a moments notice I know all 45 of my birds would go to great people I trust.

View My BYC Page Re: If I Loose my home where will my pets live...... It's my belief that animals and pets are to be part of the income that come secondarily after required bills are met. There are shelter groups, some that accept farm type animals, in these situations.
I hope your situation improves.

I agree here :comment posted up above.
I have to make sure before having all the animals that i took can afford to live, provide a home etc. i pay all the required bills. (sure moneys tight) but isnt that everywhere.
its sad when a house go's down into foreclosure. a house down the street is heading down the same road. we found out thru this website called "zippo" (i think thats the name) anyways, it lists the value of homes etc, and you can zoom in on streets etc. well as we were looking at our house,, we moved about and saw a neighbor down the street is going thru pre-forclousure) its already had paperwork done ! and its for all to see on the website! unbeliveable. they have small children too.
i havent checked in a while (few weeks) but they are still living there. no sign out front in the yard. and i saw christmas decorations hung up. so i do hope they worked it out.
as for me and my family, i will only get more farm animals (if we can afford first) thats its. no ifs ands or butts!
what to do if we were faced in that situation or something else that required us to move and relocate our pets, ( we would be heartbroken but i would find homes ) (good ones)
anyways have a nice day..... sorry so long,, guess i was a bit bored !

You might be able to donate some of the smaller critters to the local schools. Kids love turtles, fish and fuzzy ferrets.
