If you buy egg cartons, who has the best price?

Thank you for the support-it really means a lot.

There was only one person on this thread that was rude but he was rude a couple of times-so maybe it looked like more. So far I've gotten a lot of support at this board when this subject of my anxiety comes up but I guess there are always some exceptions. I admit I was down all weekend after that. I normally don't let it get to me but maybe I'm hormonal or something.

I have to agree with ya lilred. Some people are very insensitive. I hate to see that. Just like some folks call me ugly. I tell um it's what God gave me so I have to live with it. Likewise, they're stuck with what they have to look at in the mirror. But the funny part is most of these folks can't sit in a movie theater seat. The seat's just to small.

Things work out. They always do.

I'm trying to find cartons now. Can anybody tell me how to sterilize the cartons. When that was brought up it really got me to thinking. I ain't dead yet but there is no guarantee it won't bite me.

The trouble with sterilizing egg cartons is that they can't take heat, I don't think you would want to get the paper ones wet and no telling what might dissolve the foam ones.

Maybe wipe them out with some alcohol?

Curious as to the germ phobia as it relates to the egg carton; is it because they have had eggs in them or that other people have touched them?

No offense to the germ phobic, I've got my own phobias and know how it is. I'm a 51 year old man, 6'2" and weigh 220 pounds, my wife tells me that my appearance is very intimidating to some. I'm terrified of house cats. A cute little kitten will freak me out beyond belief.

I want to buy some egg cartons because I'm ocd and don't want to sell or give away eggs in a carton printed with somebody else's label.

I got a decent price at Randall Burkey. I ordered foam but they have paper and plastic ones. I looked on Eggcartons.com but the price was higher. Also Randall Burkey had shipping that was very reasonable, change it to 5-7 days or something like that, I had mine from UPS within a week. Good luck.

Change that -- Randall Burkey has free shipping only through today, I went to look at the prices again after I posted, only through tonight (says through Halloween). Get it quick!

For me, my phobia is mostly of the germs you get from raw meat, raw eggs, chicken poop, etc. So salmonella and E coli and such. I know for a fact that dh's family (who are the main ones getting eggs from us) are NOT the least bit careful in the kitchen. They don't seem to worry about washing hands and counters after handling raw meat/eggs and they will leave things out on the counter for hours and not worry about what's growing on or in it. So to me, who knows what they have on their hands when they grab the carton and use the eggs. Or what is on their counter where they set the carton. To compound this my daughter has a food allergy in which even traces can cause a horrible life threatening reaction. Since they all use her allergens in their cooking (which is why we never go there for get-togethers but that's a whole 'nother rant) I also can't tell if that might be on the cartons. It's well worth it to me to buy egg cartons and not deal with the anxiety.

eta: to sterilize foam or plastic cartons I'd probably use a bleach solution or oxine solution.

I am terrified of biscuit tubes and balloons. I make my kids open the biscuit tubes while I am out if the room. Not sure why or where it came from, but I understand your fears even if not about the same things! Funny that being petrified of heights is acceptable, but other things are considered funny. I laugh at myself all the time, but truly cannot concentrate on anything at a party with balloons except how much distance is between me and the balloons.
It's ok, I get it! Don't let others make you feel bad. Anxiety issues, mental illnesses and phobias are no different than a physical problem such as diabetes or heart disease. I always try to educate people on that. We have come a long way but have a long way to go yet!
