Thank you all for your responses!!Easter Egger!!! I adore the color variations, the beards and the possibility of colored eggs : D Them and cochins <3
I agree! Easter eggers would be fun because you can get the wild color varieties AND the colored eggs!
The goal would be to have them be just like their "original" breed, but with silkied feathers! Of course, maybe make them be a little extra friendly because who doesn't want friendly chickens?Sapphire gem! Would they still have the temperament of a silkie or just feathers?
These would be fancy!Of ones that aren't common if at all real:
Araucana, Ayam Cemani and Phoenix
Good point! The ones that are already floofy would look extra adorable with silkie feathers!I think the floofyness of an Orpington (or Australorp or Cochin) would be fabulous in Silkie feathers! It would be way too cute!
Haha I'm with you there! If it's silkied I'll take it! I'd love to see photos of your silkied Cochins if you ever want to share, they sound super cute.Silkie-feathered Cochins, at least in bantam size, already exist; I have a flock of them and I adore them! There are also silkie-feathered Ameraucanas, though they seem to have gotten rather scarce in recent years, even more so than they were initially.
Other than them, if I had to choose one from that list, I think Orpingtons would do rather nicely with silkied feathering, and possibly Wyandottes, Barnevelders, and Brahmas as well. I don't think the breeds with longer tail feathers would look as nice with silkied feathering, personally, so Leghorns and Anconas (and my beloved Dorkings) wouldn't do much for me. The rest, heck, I'd take any of 'em in silkie-feathered varieties! I love silkied feathering![]()
