Good for you!!!

Yay Chicks! :

Willcatdawson, I read your blog on the "incarceration." Great story wonderfully written. Five hours! Love your coop. Two stories and an upper balcony. That's awesome.

Thanks Yay, the coop was sort of an after thought. The previous year we built the children a fort (the upstairs) then I decided I wanted a coop. I thought building under the fort was a good idea, and so far we love it there! Thanks for coming by the blog, and I'm glad you enjoyed the story.
Talk to you later,

All I can say is WOW! ! ! There are some gorgeous coops on this thread. We are in the middle of building our first coop I have gotten some great inspiration from everyones beautiful coops!

I got very lucky and had this beautiful (I think) 1886 coop on my property when I bought it.
It had been converted into a horse stall by a previous owner, but I wanted to restore it back into a hen house.
It's big enough for 40-50 chickens, has great ventilation and is plenty tall enough for me to visit with my girls.
I just finished a separate area within it to raise newly hatched chicks.
