If you have a really bad Roo......

Why not see if there is a local butcher who can dispatch and gut the roo for you, possibly for a fee. I've heard of people doing that with rabbits and goats, so why not chickens. This could save you the anguish of doing it yourself or not having to dump him somewhere to suffer

My Horrible sister did it to a dog she did not want. Most farmers shoot stray dogs. I felt so sorry for that pooch. I was laughing at the idea of taking the chicken as a passenger, not the actual dropping him off, I would never do that to any animal.

Until you rehome or butcher the rooster, keep him locked up so he cannot attack anyone. Best advice is to butcher and feast, no point passing on a nasty rooster temperament.

Who does that to dogs? People REALLY do that? Seriously? I remember my dad joking about it when I was a kid but can't believe anyone really, ACTUALLY does that. How do people sleep with themselves at night??? That makes me want to vomit.

I feel a little sick to my stomach now.

Yes people really do that to both dogs and cats. Unfortunately the dogs usually end up being shot by whatever farmer's house they dropped them off at or are hit by a car or slowly starve to death. At our house our dogs chase them off....the cats are better about sneaking up to one of the barns. I have a pregnant girl (cat) right now that someone "donated" to me.

I didn't want to deal with gutting and plucking my aggressive bantam rooster duo last summer, so I just skinned their breasts and thighs and discarded the rest of the birds near a fox den. Got rid of the problem and got a little meat. If no one wants my problem rooster this spring I'm going to call the local wildlife rehabilitation center and see if they want him to feed to their carnivores. Kind-of mean, but less mess and still doing some good.

yes people do dump dogs. I moved to the country with 1 dog he passed last year. I had 4 more before he passed. All dogs that were dumped. Best dogs in the world to me.

Neither of us has the stomach to butcher, but I did have to have hubby "dispatch" (with a shotgun) a really, really mean roo last summer. We had taken several others to the processor earlier in the year but at the time he was pretty and tame, so he missed the roundup. As time went by he got vicious until we just couldn't live with him anymore. He was a skinny feller and wouldn't have been worth the trouble anyway, but I was quite relieved to be able to walk through my yard again.

I won't make the mistake of keeping a "nice" roo again. From now on, they ALL go to freezer camp at the same time.
