If you keep meat birds and dont process them whats their life span?

I've had 2 red cornish cross for almost 2 years now....just wanted to experiment . They do eat alot....I free feed them , and poop alot too . I prefer the white cornish cross for meaties....they tend to get bigger vs the red . My reds lay huge eggs...so ....I guess in my experience with that particular breed , I'd say they would be perfect eating , pooping , laying machines !

maybe the grass is greener on the other side lol maybe it just depends on the breed i almost want to go grap a couple tomorrow i just might yea i will but these will be for myself lol

We had a White Cornish cross that lived to be 5-6 years before she keeled, but this was a couple years ago, now they're so genetically altered that I'm not sure how long one would live...

What...?

I said years ago, nowdays they don't live too terribly long as far as I know.. Aside from that, they aren't the prettiest birds and are usually messier than layers. I'd take a Buff Orp or other common layer over a Cornish any day because of it. What kind of eggs are you hatching now..? Its basicaly up to you, although a layer might do better in the situation.

i got some ee's some cocin, seramas, duclles, jersey giants cohin and possibly a few other eggs in the bator right now, mostly bantam eggs tho and 6 ee eggs and 4 brown eggs not certain of breed i will see once they hatch
