If you live close to a store that sells chickens...

My locally owed feed store has no limit to reg. customers. LOL. I got 4 beautiful little EE's today. He knows how I spoil my chicks. I think we are better off with the smaller local owner stores. Yes we have a tsc but I do not buy chicks there. They do require 6 min. Gloria Jean

To anyone who may be in the South Central PA area, here is the info for the chicken seminar that is being held this coming Saturday (March 27, 2010) from 10:00am - 11:30am.

Knisely's Pet and Farm Center
1025 Ritner Highway
Carlisle, PA 17013
(717) 243-2233

They are asking that people RSVP just to ensure that they have enough space for everyone.
I have bought dog food and miscellaneous items from this family run operation for years, and they are really great to deal with. If anyone lives in the area, it should be a great informative session.

No minimum at our feedstore.... but they are not "Easter chick" friendly - their next shipment will be straight run dyed chicks. So I am trying to find somewhere else to support with my $$ - I NEEEEEEEED chicks for my new coop!

That is probably for the best really....the Easter chicks will likely get wooled to death by a toddler, so maybe the parents will pass if they have to buy a whole flock!

My mom said when she was a kid, it was common for Easter chicks to be sold dyed in different colors, like pink, purple green.....

They did even 20 years ago that I know of. In Miami in the 50's maybe, my mil said they would give you a chick when you bought your Easter shoes.

I bought extra for shipping purposes, Silver laced wyandottes and buff orps, but was going to list them on the buy sell area once they came in. Could this be illegal?

I think they do still dye chicks for Easter.

& No I think private sales would be excluded.

Our TSC has the 6 chick minimum, and they really irritate me with it. I'm in there once a week buying feed and chicken goodies, the MANAGER has asked me questions about raising chickens, etc....and they still tried to enforce the 6 chick minimum on me

I've been going in there for years, they KNOW I have chickens.

There were 2 little seabrights in the bantam bin that I wanted, that's it. I even offered to pay for 6 but only take my 2, but nope.

I left without the little cuties

In NY the 6 minimum is established by state law. I believe that is the case in some other states as well.
