What you do in that case, is first put in shower doors if you don't have them. They you put on an old, but still think pair of jeans and a similar jeans jacket. Heavy cotton garden gloves are recommended but optional. Eye protection is a must. Turn on shower, place open bottle of cat shampoo within the shower. Grasp cat firmly and step inside.
Let the games begin.
I should have also added that you need to make sure that you have open on the bathroom counter, 1 bottle of iodine, several bandages and a nice fluffy towel. (The fluffy towel is optimistic. It assumes you will lay hands on the cat long enough to dry him/her in the near future.)
I have actually done the above procedure many times and lived to tell the tale.
