If you saw this pullet, would you think Blue Wheaten Ameraucana?

I would say continue that cross - those 2 are producing a gorgeous mixed breed.

Cool! You got a splash-wheaten-ish looking girl. Her back is patterned more like a faverolle than an ameraucana though. I like her shape!
Were the chicks sex-linked, or did their color show up different at few weeks?

Well, it was kind of funny...Both chicks looked white when they hatched, but the female had a blue spot on her head. Also the male was clean faced, and female has very poofy cheeks. I only got one of each though, so I have no idea if these traits would be consistent. I had that thought though...That they could be sex linked, because the female offspring seemed to get so many traits from the dad, and the male got traits from the mom's genetic background (like the blue and red color, the lacing on the chest, etc).

Unfortunately I don't have the rooster anymore! But I know where to get more Blue Wheatens if I wanted to try the cross again and see how it turns out.

Well now here's a surprise (to me anyway). One of my young pullets laid a little brown egg yesterday, and I'm pretty sure it was her! I was really hoping for blue or green.

Of the three youngsters I have, she's the only one squatting and with a reddened comb, so it must be her, right?!

That cross wouldn't be a "Sex-Link".
You would have to go R.I. Red over a
Silver Laced, Silver Penciled or Columbian if you are going with a Wyandotte hen...

Hmm, well maybe the guy I got her from was mistaken. I do still believe she's a blue sex link, but I guess I don't know what the parents were...
