If you thought about getting a pet, adopt from a local shelter! Shelter Pets need you!!!!!! Please Help!!!!!

Also the shelter I work at, we are not funded by the government so everything is out of pocket. All our medical team we pay for and the building and all the care. We do fostering, volunteers, and other ways we can upgrade our shelter. All animals are neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Shelters are amazing places and not bad. All should consider it.

Well not necessarily. I didn't mean for it to sound that way. What I mean is that it wouldn't be a bad idea for people to think about it. If you don't that doesn't make you a bad person. Adopting animals from a shelter just really means you open up new opportunities for yourself and doing something new. Don't get me wrong it is some work just with animals being moved around and have trust issues if they'll get let again but are some of the biggest sweethearts in the end

They really are so sweet! I know tons of rescues and they’re all the best

Also, btw, I didn’t think you came across like that at all!!! I got what you meant. You said they should consider it not that they must do it. Some people will just interpret things how they see fit. I got what you meant

I am so so SO , did I say SO? tired of "rescue or your a horrible person" type threads and people. By buying a well bred dog, I am doing no different than just not getting a rescue dog at all. ? I'm not hurting or harming anything.

I am DEFINITELY NOT trying to come off as one of those people. I respect your decision, and I can see why you would decide that way. I just wanted to spread the word, and try my best to save more shelter pets. Heck, if I could, I would adopt more, but I can't right now.

I would like to adopt a Galgo espagnol (Spanish greyhound) in the next future. Do you know the sad story of Spanish hunting dogs Galgos and Podencos?
It is estimated that between 50,000 to 100,000 hunting dogs are killed every year in Spain.
They're lovely dogs, gentle and sweet and, as any other animal, they do not deserve to be abused and tortured.

There’s “bad apples” from breeders, too. My dog from a breeder has bitten people in the past.

But there is a heck of a lot more bad apples in shelters then from breeders (good breeders not backyard breeders.)
