Agreed-mostly. I think breeders get a bad rap, and that there are many responsible breeders-however (I do realize you speak from experience, just sharing my opinion), my aunt fosters a ton. She has a mix herself, who's now 15 and just starting to lose her eyesight and hearing. None of her fosters, nor her current dog, have any behavior problems at all-I think it partially depends on where the dogs come from, etc. However, there are loads and loads and loads more irresponsible breeders, and many of them look responsible at first glance. People who haven't read and heard a ton about breeders may read something like this post, and misinterpret it to mean that all rescues have behavior and health issues, and all breeders are amazing. There are two sides to every story, and, I'll say it again, I think that for many people adopting is the best option, but there are a couple people (like you) that have a good reason for buying from a-and this is the key word-responsible breeder. Sorry, this goes round in circles and doesn't make much of a point.

back yard breeders and puppy mills get a bad rap. People call these people "breeders" when in reality they should be called animal abusers. Dogs from these people get dumped, because when you don't moniter your breeding program, you get sick dogs with behavior issues.

I do speak from experience, I fostered dogs for 6 years. Every.single.dog. I brought into my home had one issue or another. AND thank GOD they came to me, otherwise they would of been sent back to the shelter, or worse, if they where send home with an average family

your aunt either got really lucky, or her dogs just don't have serious issues worth mentioning

And after years of watching dogs from unknown backgrounds become old and suffer, it becomes more clear to me, that reputable breeders is the way I want to go, as I no longer want to watch dogs, such as my poor kennedy and oscar, die, slow, painful deaths because of the horrible breeding backgrounds they had.

not that I don't care that dogs die, its that the pain and hurt that comes with rescue dogs is too great. Along with behavior issues and otherwise.. I need a break from god awful dogs (to no fault of their own)

I know it sounds cruel and there are animals needing adoption, but for my family, it's getting a known breed with a background I am fully aware of from a reputable breeder. You're not wrong if you decide to go with a rescue animal.
That's ok🙂 I (we I hope) fully respect your opinion!

x2, I was just saying that for a puppy, a couple issues would be the same. Yes, I think that especially for first time dog owners, getting a puppy they have spend time with (from a breeder or shelter) is the best decision-a dog with bad training or issues is never the a good choice for anybody except the experts.
Nice sig!

Good post! I think puppies are best for beginners, from shelters or breeders!
Puppies come with there own challenges, but overall they're usually the better choice in the long run! Just one more thing-know your breed. Whether it's your mix of breeds, or your single bred, make sure you know what you're getting into. And do your research-responsible breeders are much harder than it seems to find.

I would also like to add,

rescues do lie. they mean well, trying to get rid of dogs in their system to make room

but it just ends badly.

when I brought my deacon home at 12 weeks old, the rescue told me he was friendly. When on walk, I let him say hello to a dog (the rescue told me he was friendly..), and he attacked the poor dog. My PUPPY! attacked a dog. Through so much training, my 8 year old dog is still agressive. The shelter didn't tell us he was agressive, and its obvious that he is.

our other dog was given to us "crate and potty trained" .. LOL he was the farthest from that! they also told us he was dog friendly, uhh nope. Not at all.

Is that the last thing you will add?
