Maybe you should try to get a range of colors in Plymouth Rocks. In hatchery birds, you can easily find barred, buff, and white. In breeder birds, columbian, silver-pencilled, partridge, and blue. They're not easy to find, but with a little detective work, you might be able to manage. Rocks are a calm, friendly breed, and they're nice to look at, with that single comb you're wanting
we're giving you ideas of our favs, but with what you're saying for yourself, I think the best breed for yourself would be the americauna's as they come in all colors, lay well, and the eggs also come colored
I think I'll probably start out with a couple of several different breeds, and then once I get to know them see if I like one breed well enough in person to specialize on down the road.
Thanks to everyone for your suggestions, and I'll definitely look into the Rocks more!
