If you were looking to produce sex links...

Birchen over barred, or BC Marans over barred produces black bleeding color hens. BC Marans over barred produces barred males, and black bleeding red hens.

If the birchen were gold birchen then also black bleeding red, silver birchen probably wouldn't leak red/gold but silver or cream.

I haven't played with wheaten at all.

? So if I take one of my husband and son's BCs and bred it to our BR then I would get a BC/BR sexlink ? AT birth would you be able to tell which was the BB Female and which was the Barred male? BCs are not as good layers as BR so wondering what the draw back maybe there. Also would the eggs get darker with the BB females as their Dad (*so to speak) when they grow up to lay eggs?

oooh oohh now you have me thinking what about a BO roo x to a golden commet hen? will that prodce sex links chicks that I can easily identify at hatch time?

Sorry that won't. The Gold Comet is a sex-link herself, making her a mix/mutt/crossbred bird. If you had a Barred Rock hen then it would work.

figures! I gave my only barred rock hen away 2 months ago with a roo!

oh well...Ive got enough on my plate to play with-thank you
