If your rooster is de-crowed, can the city still enforce the 'no rooster ordinance'?

Hello all, I live in Newark CA. There is an ordinance that prohibits rooster ownership. If I de-crow my rooster would the ban still apply? Has anyone had any experience in dealing with a similar issue?

I've never had this issue, but I think they can't enforce the ban unless the rooster actually crows. So, if he's silent after the surgery, I don't think they can enforce it. I have never had this problem though so I could be wrong. @casportpony What do you think?

They CAN because it's still a rooster but they probably wouldn't because if no one hears him crow, no one is going to complain. It would depend on the exact language of your local ordinance but most likely they can but won't enforce it.

Look for the definition of rooster. A local ordinance defined it as basically any bird that crows.

De crow? Is that possible? Is it painful, immoral and expensive to do. Im going through same thing. I dont want to give up my black sultan that i thought was a hen but at four months turns out a hes a rooster. And we loce him so much.

I'd be interested to know how you de-crow a rooster. Not to be too graphic, but when you decapitate a chicken, a noise comes out of its neck that's surprisingly a lot like a crow.

I believe it's like debarking a dog. You snip most of the vocal chords
