if you're illegal, how many chickens do you have?

DITTO on the wandering cats and barking dogs!!! Honestly, they are much more annoying and pose much more of a threat than a few chickens! I'm in NC and legal. Our town rules are pretty good. Just can't have roosters, but we have 8 hens!

I'm illegal here in mn and have 43 bantams... 8 are roosters. Everyone around here loves them and has since we have had them. It wasn't always illegal here but they rewrote the ordinance last year due to the illegal activity going on in the area at the time. You must now have at least 3 acres to keep chickens, we have 1 acre.

I have 3 girls illegally.....I'm only allowed 2

I have WAY too many. I have probably about 30-40 right now.... But most of them are here because the people that were suppose to split the order with me bailed out. I actually have to keep my chickens indoors to hide them. But our city has TERRIBLE ordinances. You can only have a total of 3 either cats, dogs, or possibly a goldfish. So I would be screwed either way because I have too many cats, and other animals. We can't have ANYTHING but dogs and cats. Yet the local pet stores sell hamsters, guinea pigs, birds, ferrets, rabbits, and all other kinds of "illegal" animals. LOL! I tried to get my chickens legal but the city kept adding new hoops I had to jump through and finally I said screw it and converted my basement into a chicken paradise.

Im in MN too! Here in Saint Michael I'm illegal with 5 chickens (5 more 3 day chicks I hatched out that are inside under a heat lamp yet) and 3 ducks. I have NO idea why these laws are in place, seriously whay do chickens hurt? The zoning says we can have "farm animals" if we have at least 5 acres which we dont but all of our neighbors like the chickens.... I did have 1 neighbor come over last weekend asking if my chickens got loose ... turns out there is wild pheasent trying to get into my yard, I hope the wild guys dont blow my cover!

:I am illeagal and don't care. Here in Knoxville we have an ordinance that allows us to have 6 hens. We have to have a predator proof coop that you need a building permit to build. There can be no poop on the ground, no feeding them scratch on the ground, the coop has to match your fence, must be one solid color, 8 square feet per bird in the run, a $75 permit on top of a $100 building permit, 1/2 inch wire only, no roosters, animal control can search your property for ilegal chickens at any daylight hour and you cannot refuse, even this violates the constitution they still get by with it. You can't sell chickens or eggs, which makes no sense because if you get a rooster youcan't sell it, and you can't eat them. All of this because some darn lady on the city council thinks that they attract predators that pose a threat to people, and she says they are disease ridden piles of crap. She says that her parents owned a chicken farm and said that the smell was horrible. If you have 700 birds no wonder why they stink so much. I hate it when laws are so complex it is impossible to follow them.

I've got 4 and am illegal. They can be a bit loud in the morning when laying, but no worse than the dogs barking.

I have 16 hens and two roosters... But mine are just illegal because of our neighboorhood covenence. (sp?) And my parents signed it not me and there my chickens so technically... It's a bit of a strech but WTH!
