Hello guys please help me my quail is ill she has her eyes shut and doesn´t move since yesterday, i think she drank bad water from my garden it was green :S how can i help her please help me :( what antibiotics can i give her i need the names i live in portugal and how to give it to her.

Thanks in advance

First thing you might want to do is get her under some heat. Sick birds get cold fast and heat can help her rid herself of toxins. Try to get her to eat some hard boiled eggs. They are emergency food for birds.

If she truly did get sick from some bad water, Duramycin will take care of any e-coli or any other intestinal bacteria she may have picked up.

Keep her warm and dry till she recuperates.

Catching the symptoms for sickness is very important. By your description, I've never had a bird survive in that condition, but it could be because of my lack of more experience. Please update us on how your bird is doing.

Get some Duramyacin and add it to their water whenever they seem stressed or sick, especially when they are very young. MurryMcMurry sells it.

thanks for the answers but im in portugal and the temperature here is 30 deg day and 28 night should i heat him?
another thing is that product, i dont know if i can buy it in portugal.

You can skip the heat if it is that warm. Any of the Tetracyclines will work in this case...Oxytetracycline, Chlortetracycline, even the sulfa drugs such as Sulfadimethoxine or Sulfamethazine. Maybe you could ask a vet to prescribe one of these. The sulfa drugs can ONLY be used for 5 days.

Has this quail been wormed within the last year? Worms can suck the life out of birds, literally. If not, get her wormed ASAP. Regular worming, using antibiotics when needed, good diet, healthy environment and attention are about all you can do in these cases. Sometimes we still lose them no matter what we do.

I would think the worms/worming is key as well. I would almost bet the water in not your problem, unless the bird was pulled down into a weakened condition by worms or other ailment. I would recommend worming every bird you have on the ground at least twice a year...
