Illinois...

My mom called this morning to check in on us. She is concerned stores may close. Dad works for Jewel and heard their parent company (Andersons) is closing locations out east (PA I think). She asked if we had enough stockpiled to last a few weeks if needed. I responded by saying, "I have 2 weeks of meat sitting in the backyard." She then scolded me... She said I couldn't do that to her grandson.
Is it terrible that I was only half joking? If for some reason it came down to it, there's quite a bit of protein there (probably 4-5 weeks worth honestly).
I have recently been entertaining the idea of a bunch of cornish cross to sustain a rotation of meat. Like if my wife was ok it would have already happened. I'm still working on her

If things were that tight that you had to eat your flock to survive your neighbors already have them.

Chickens attract predators, in times of severe food disruption they would be of the two legged kind. Much more dangerous and cunn

Add to that broad breasted turkeys and you will have plenty of meat in under six months.
