Is that 3 hours round trip or 6 hours total? May I ask where you are located?

I live just outside of decatur and have 3 EE roos about 5 months old. You can have all 3 if you like. Also have 3 muscovy ducks about the same age 1 male and 2 female that i am giving away.Just let me know i think you are about an hour or so away from me. thanks bob

I'm not far from Rockford, IL.--30 min. west.--and before Freeport.

I've got 1 Delaware and 2 Red star roo's available.

so how far way are you from me?

Oh my goodness...I am shocked by how generous everyone here is!

chic-n-farmer: Your offer is so very gracious and exactly what I am looking for; however, due to distance, I must humbly decline your offer. If you were only closer, in a heartbeat I would be there. Please do not think me rude, I do very much appreciate you offering me exactly what I am seeking...just the distance we have between us is the issue. I very much want to thank you and hope in the future I may be able to assist you in some way.

dacjohns: Thank you so very much for your kind offer. Unfortunately, due to distance, I regret I must decline your selfless offer. I only wish you were closer, I do apologize. Thank you very much.

maplesky7: I am located in Roanoke, according to mapquest about 3 hours to your south. I so appreciate your offer, but due to distance, I have to decline. I do really appreciate your generosity and willingness to help out. Thank you so much.

ilroost: So far you are the closest to me...I am 1/2 hour from Bloomington, from Bloomington to Decatur is about 1 hour...so about 1 1/2 hours 1 way, 3 hours total. I am thinking that with 12 pullets that 1 or 2 roos would be plenty. Have never had ducks before...will they co-habitate with chickens or must they be kept separate? Everyone here has been so forthcoming with information, help, etc...kind of hard to believe. Would a weekend be the best time to visit?

i just signed on here about two days ago and am from southern illinois. im about thirty minutes south of carbondale and would buy some chickens if anyone has any for sale. not too picky as long as price right. lol. layers, meat chickens, chicks, whatever...

Welcome! You ARE down south, I am just outside Peoria. I just am getting started with chickens myself, I have a dozen 20 week old pullets that have not begun to lay yet. My plan is in the spring to have eggs to hatch. I apologize I do not have any chickens to offer you right now...perhaps next spring I can help you out? You may also find someone closer to you that might be able to help you out as well. My stepson was living in Ava Illinois and when we journeyed down it was about 6 hours 1 way...I remember it was a long ride down and back in 1 day.

yeah ava is not too far at all. i have a few layers and roosters and some pullets as well. eight eggs in incubator. thing i cant figure out is i want some white rocks and have a barred rock rooster and barred rock hens and cannot get any chicks except barred rocks! lol. i enjoy buying and swapping and having them alot but the chicken swap i go to ends in october so i have to find a another way to "scratch the itch" and this site will do the job i think. haha

The forums are really great! I am still in the process of reading them. Check out the webpages as well...gopherboy is not only hilarious but good plans for a homemade incubator and a coop built out of nothing but recycled/thrown away items. Still checking out the webpages as well...hopefully I do not get through it all too quickly!
