Correct me if I'm wrong,,,, that looks like an Old Town 169. Have one, as well as 3 others besides
Old town camper. I think 14' or 15'. Have had it for 12 years now. Love it. Dont get to use it as much. Cant register it. Bought it from Missouri and didn't pay sales tax so mr tax collector tyrant wont let me use it. However in "Wiscaanson" non powered under 16' dont need to register. A few years ago neighbors had a big tubing trip planned and IL changed the law to say you have to register (and pay a fee of course) to float on an inner tube.

Well,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I have good news for you. The laws have been changed in Land Of Lincoln. My BFF sent me this info about canoes.

For my last canoe trip down the Fox river, I had to purchase stickers good for whole year at $6 per canoe. Did not need to be registered like old style way before. Went to Dick's Sporting Goods Store, and it was just cash and carry for stickers. The stickers had only the year on them. Good for any canoe.
Now that is no longer necessary according to the changes in the Illinois Law.
I know that the beautiful stretch of the Fox is right in your area. Have you ever canoed the section from Yorkville dam to Ayers Landing???
Here are some pix.
