Illinois...

Long day today. Work and DS's speech therapy and school. We grabbed dinner and afterward I noticed DS has a fever. It spike to 103. Now we are battling that all night... Tylenol, pedialite, cool rags, frozen peas on the head... We will not be able to get into the doctor until tomorrow afternoon. Fingers crossed it's nothing serious. It seems to have come down a bit. I think it was the Tylenol getting into his system finally. I have to stay up to give him another dose at 11:30 and then monitor his temp for a while longer.
Hope he's feeling better.

He's got a doctor appointment at 1pm. I was up all night. Slept about 4 hours. Had to wake him every 4 hrs to get him to take Tylenol. Poor guy was not excited to be woken up so much. His fever comes back as the Tylenol wears off though, so it was necessary to wake him. I skipped the most recent dose even though he was awake to see if the fever will stay down. Seems like it is doing just that. Still a fever, but certainly not 103.

DS is bouncing back. A relief came when the pediatrician's office called just a bit ago and said the COVID test came back negative (the have their own lab so they are fast). I'm going to need to restock on Tylenol and pedialyte, but otherwise we are doing alright over here.

Now some bad news. I found a female duck dead in our garden. It obviously fought for its life. The murderous scene was really something to have to take in. Multiple spots of blood creating a maze of a trail, drag marks in the snow, marks from wings flapping too, feathers all over... The back was completely ripped open and much of the organs were gone as well as the spine. The predator actually broke or chewed through the rib bones to get into the body cavity. It was gruesome. I did get a few pictures of tracks. I'll post them later from my phone.

Seems everything tastes LIKE CHICKEN:drool ,,,, or
everything LIKES CHICKEN. :thumbsup
Probably coyotes' taste-buds crave the contents of our coops.:gig

I like to post some things funny, and other things as informative.
This one is 90% informative.:old
I posted on a different thread that, to increase quickly the protein percentage your chickens may need, just add some dog food, or cat food into their diet. When chicken are molting, and need extra protein for feather growth,,, or any other reason.
There was a response that made me feel like I was gettin a whippin behind the shed. Claim was that dog and cat food contained too much salt. Also too much fat. Expert had a belt in hand.:gig
I agree dog food does contain some fat, but am not sure a small quantity of it would harm my chickens anyways.
I have been using the same Avatar since day one here on BYC. It shows my cats sharing food with my chickens. They do this to this day. When I let them free-range into back yard, they automatically stop by the cat food:drool:drool:drool dishes FIRST.
Here is the Analysis Chart, Does not show salt.:idunno

I don't have a chart from my cat food bag, but it is what my cats call for by name.

And wanted to add.... my chickens all live LOOOOONG lives, unless lost to predator:hit
My longest living chicken lived 13 years. A Silver Sebright. Same as Faradays' Trouble:love
Has been stealing the cats' food all her life, and the the contents did not harm her.:thumbsup
