Illinois...

I am grateful the snow-blower repair man is coming Saturday morning. I hope he's good and can fix it. View attachment 2507849
Did you already settle on the rate? Good luck with a premium charge otherwise if he shows up in the middle of a snow storm when your demand for a working snow blower is highest.

Anyone have any hatching eggs (of any sort) close to the mattoon/Charleston Illinois area?
Have you tried Facebook? There are a few Illinois poultry sites, I've noticed people are starting to post eggs. Personally I hate Facebook but it seems to be a good resource for chickens and eggs

6 1/2 inches in 24 hrs is BAD to me...

And I will likely be out in the storm this afternoon on my way home from a funeral service. We had services this week for my paternal grandmother and my maternal grandfather. It's been wake, funeral, wake, funeral for four days for my family topped off with a snow storm on the final day today. And then tomorrow is a birthday party for my nephew. Hoping the family can bounce back enough to attend the party for him.

Sorry for your losses. Prayers for comfort and safe driving.

Yesterday Some forecasters were saying 13, so 6 didn't seem so bad.

Oh, 13 would be HORRIBLE. I'm not sure my paddle snow blower would handle 13. I want to upgrade to a better snow blower, but I don't want to pay $300-$500 for something I use a handful of times each each year.

DS will be happy though. I'm carving out some time tomorrow morning to take him sledding again. I might bring my niece and nephew too. I think I am going to grab a cheap plastic sled for myself so I cut out the 50 yard walk to him at the bottom of the hill. He's too little to pull his heavy sled back up, not that he didn't try.

It's going to be heavy wet snow, doubt if the paddle blower can handle that. If it was me, I would watch the forecast and think about blowing tonight instead of just the morning.

Snow blower guy is working on ours.
Our 91 yr old neighbor gave it to us. (Well, she's 97.5 now.) Her late husband bought it in the early 1980s. The machine is so powerful that we can blow the snow onto our roof or as far as the next door neighbor's driveway.

DH enjoyed using it and would clear our driveway as well as the 3 widows' driveways and sidewalks. It was a nice way to help them out since they really enjoyed spoiling our kids. (Like having 3 grandmas on the street and free babysitting anytime.)
