Illinois...

That's awesome! Everywhere I read they are supposed to be really nice :) I'm definitely getting at least one, maybe two... (I can only have 6 birds total)
Yes me too... don't tell them I have 10 chicken. 🤣 I claim four of them to be pigeons that just decided to stay and for huge from constant access to feed.

Thank you! I am planning on leaving part of the soffits open (with hardware cloth) for ventilation. Windows are ok to blow a breeze on the chickens, when opened in the summer, right? Because I have windows on the north and south walls and the areas on the top of the east and west walls that I was planning to always leave opened for adequate ventilation in year round.

I leave the windows open all day and night in nice weather. Even when it's cold (but not bitter cold), I open them during the day to help air things out but then close them at night to keep the draft out.

Thanks! I just googled flex spray, so I see it's a rubber coating. So do you use that to fill the cracks?
I didn't even think of that!

I was getting leaks in a few corners and near my window frame so I sprayed everywhere I was seeing water coming in. If I had it to do all over, I'd spray the whole darn thing before putting in the PDZs/sand and it would have saved me a lot of time hunting leaks and drying out sand. Ever since I sprayed the spots I did, I haven't had any water but it took a while to hunt down where it was coming from and several times shoveling out the wet sand into the run and replacing it with new stuff because there was no way to dry it all on the inside.

Neither did I. But I have the proof. 6 of them right in my yard. Looks like a duck or chicken... Sounds like a duck or chicken... Walks like a duck or chicken... It's clearly a pidgeon! 🤪

That's funny you mention it! I have about 8 cats that live in my coop and they also cluck and sometimes lay eggs. So weird. They don't seem to bother my 4 chickens so I let them stay.

If anybody shows up asking questions, just say those cats drank Red Bull and it gave them wings.

That is a wonderful idea! Thanks so much!
