Boy I had a scare at lock up. Calico turkey hen in a mulberry tree hanging by wings between 2 branches. Shined flashlight on her and she looked dead to me. Went and got two 10 foot long pipes and connected them, couldn't reach her. When I got back with a ten foot ladder she was gone. I hope she got up in the tree, I couldn't find her on the ground. I'll see in the morning if I still have 14 hens.

As I sit here with 5 fertile turkey eggs trying to fight my incubation urges, a friend sends me this:

So then I start to think how my family usually asks for turkey for Christmas....... which is exactly 28 days from today. HMMMMM 28 days is also the same length of turkey incubation!!!!
Turkey nuggets :ya

I honestly can't see it being much of a debate LOL

Did you find your hen?

In not a fan of this weather... I need to go out to Farm and Fleet, but dread the cold. I need to get a waterer figured out for the ducks for winter. This is first year without the deep pond that would stay fairly ice free all winter. DW pulled the kiddy pools out of the pen and put the heated dog waterer in. It's too small for 7 ducks though. I'm thinking a shallow black rubber tub and a heater/deicer.

Check F & F for a heated horse bucket for your ducks. They come in 10 quart and 5 gallon sizes that allow your ducks to immerse their heads.
