Illinois...

I made something today. I am already looking forward to Spring and my garden. All of my seeds were creamed into an envelop that was certainly too small. I tried finding a small container around the house but had no luck. So I built a little seed box out of some scrap plywood I had in the garage. It works, although I wish I made this bigger even because I've already filled it.

If you're like me and don't enjoy the cold at all, perhaps this gets you thinking about warmer days. Also, at 4pm today I noticed it was still bright outside instead of the sun already setting. The days are getting longer - slowly but surely. Let's hope the warm weather goes by just as slowly.
Is your real name MacGyver? :idunno

Another case of using stock photos.....

If you're going to try selling egg-laying chickens, Don't Use A Rooster Pic! :he

Anybody been to this butcher shop in Plainfield? They have a farm the meat comes from. https://www.hufendickfarmmarket.com/about
I have. I live very close to to. They are a smaller butcher. They seem to have things in the back always though. I went there looking for a French sausage for a special Mothers Day dinner I was cooking for DW and they had it along with a few other varieties that were new to me and not available in grocery stores here. Their beef looks great. They offer aged cuts too. The meat is from their cattle and pigs from what I understand. They know the breeds well.
They also offer a CSA program. For a monthly rate you get a box of meat every month. I've been thinking about it since the cost of beef is so high anymore. If I'm going to spend some money on beef, I might as well support a small farm, local butcher and get high quality meet.

Also, there's a great café, Krema, and our favorite local ice cream parlor, Hazel Marie's (only open March-Sept) on the same side of the street.
It's gets financially dangerous walking there - I end up having coffee and hot chocolate for the kids, strolling across the street for lunch at one of the restaurants, then grabbing ice cream across the street and stopping into Hufendick's for some meat for dinner on the way back to the car.
I love it though.

No danger of me spending money on coffee, cows milk products or wheat. Although it's like an alcoholic walking by a bar.
I was getting my meat from Tamblyn, I only eat a lb of beef or pork a month, so I traded turkey eggs for over 2 yrs of meat a couple years ago lol... looking for a new place
